Brian Dean Gunderson, age 46, of Janesville, died on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Cresco, Iowa on June 13, 1975, Brian was the son of Leon and Julie (Austin) Gunderson. Brian graduated from Harmony High School, attended college in Winona, Minn., and graduated from the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Construction Inspector Academy at Lake Superior College. Brian was a gifted craftsman, had an excellent work ethic, and excelled at everything he did. He enjoyed a 20-year construction management career with Braun Intertec and the State of Minnesota. On February 19, 2000, he was united in marriage to Sarah Johnson at St. Columban Catholic Church in Preston. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, fishing, trap shooting, pheasant hunting, four-wheeling, cooking, grilling, and playing with his dogs. Brian was so proud of his children. He was a family man, a true friend, and a great teller of tales. He loved life.
Brian is survived by his wife, the love of his life of 24 years, Sarah Gunderson of Janesville; two adored children, Cole Dean Gunderson (20) and Erin Victoria Gunderson (16); his parents Leon and Julie Gunderson of Harmony, brother Jeff Gunderson and his wife Jennifer of Arden Hills, his father and mother-in-law Jeff and Vickie Johnson of Granger, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were as close as family.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunt Caroleen Gunderson, uncle Dean Austin, and his best friend Greg Fossum.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 24, 2021, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville and continued for one hour before the funeral service.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville.
