Fillmore Central boys golf, despite graduating maybe the school’s top golfer ever (Jake Fishbaugher), marched on unabated by repeating as 1A champions. The Falcons (335) built a 20-stroke edge after Day 1, leading nearest foes BP (355) and R-P (355). FC was then again, the top shooting team Day 2. Brad Holten’s Falcons (674) reigned over BP (717) and Lanesboro (717) each by 43 strokes. R-P (725) took fourth place. Kingsland, Houston, and GMLO did not make Day 2. Four Falcons made the top 10. Freshman Brody Srsen (80/83 > 163) notably had two nine-hole rounds of 40, plus a 39, with 18 pars total. He took third. Brock Sikkink (83/87 > 170) and Aiden Arnold (88/83 > 171) took fifth and sixth. Sikkink had a nine-hole round of 38. He had 19 pars. Arnold had a 41 and a 42 on his second 18. He had 16 pars. Josh Haugerud (84/93 > 177) took 10th place. His best nine-hole round was a 41. Luke Hellickson (93/86 > 179) tied for 14th place, giving FC five in the top 14. Only BP and Lanesboro had two rank so high. Grabbing the individual 1A title was Burro Jack Brogle. The freshman (78) led FC’s Srsen (80) after Day 1, but expanded his edge. Brogle (78/79 > 157) took first over Southland’s Nick Edland (83/78 > 161) by four strokes. He was the only golfer with two sub-80, 18-hole rounds. He had nine-hole marks of 39, 39, 39, and 40. Brogle repeated in making state with 18 pars, three birdies. Houston’s Ethan Knutson and R-P’s Sam LaFleur also made Becker. The senior Knutson (88/81 > 169) used a strong Day 2 (37/44) to finish fourth overall. He had 15 pars and two birdies. LaFleur (87/89 > 176) won a playoff with BP’s Braden Farr (90/86 > 176) to secure the fifth and final individual state berth. The 8th grader had a 43 and two 44’s amongst his nine-hole rounds. GMLO’s top golfer was Lincoln Lunning (90/87 > 177) in 10th place. Trojan Jaxson Meldahl (90/88 > 178) and Burro Kaden Stettler (93/85 > 178) tied for 12th place.
