The Caledonia boys have a had good season. However, injuries to starters Reid Klug and Lewis Doyle left the Warriors not at full strength for a good chunk of the year. But Brad King’s group (11-1, 19-4), ranked #18 in AA to start the week, is healthy and ended the season with two wins. The first was a big one versus TRC-East leading #17 in AA La Crescent (13-0, 19-6). In the teams’ first match-up, the Warriors were down Doyle and Klug. Despite trailing most of the game, the Lancers came out on top 64-60, student section storming the court over the school’s first win over the Warriors since 2010. Caledonia remembered, as the home re-match got out of hand. It was tight early. LC/H hit five of its first six threes and the contest was tied 22-22 midway through the first half. But Doyle and Klug then combined to score 26 straight Warrior points (11 of 12 FGs). Each scored 16 in the half. It was 53-35 Warriors at halftime. Caledonia hit 13 of their last 14 shots of the stanza. They shot 19 of 31 total (61%) for the half. The Warriors then started the second half with a lob dunk to Ethan Stendel and a span of scores on 12 of 14 possessions. The lead ballooned to 79-45. They got to running time on the Lancers in a statement 98-64 win. It was win number 20. The starting five all got to double figures; Doyle (26 pts, 12-15 FGs, 6 asts), Klug (18 pts, 7-9 FGs, 4-6 threes, 6 rebs, 3 asts, 3 stls, 2 blks), Mason King (18 pts, 4-8 threes), Garrett Konz (17 pts, 6-10 FGs, 3-5 threes, 7 rebs, 3 blks), and Stendel (10 pts, 5-7 FGs, 10 rebs). Caledonia shot 50% from three (13 of 26) and 62% from the field (38 of 61) with just seven turnovers. The Lancers shot 26% (17 of 67). Only Parker McQuin (17 pts, 4 asts) hit double figures. On the road, the Warriors then surged past Cotter in the second half. Caledonia led 32-23 at halftime. The Ramblers narrowed the margin to 43-37 with about 11-minutes to play. The Warriors then scored 22 of the next 28 points for a 65-43 lead. They prevailed 74-49. Klug (25 pts, 8-14 FGs, 8-8 FTs, 10 rebs, 3 asts, 3 stls), King (17 pts, 3-5 threes), Stendel (10 pts, 5-7 FGs, 12 rebs), and Konz (10 pts, 10 rebs) gave the Warriors four in double figures. Luke Gardner scored 19 to lead the Ramblers. Cal (13-1, 21-4) won its eighth in a row.
