Gunner Benson shoots a little baseline jumper amidst Fillmore Central’s game versus Winona-Cotter. Benson hit a couple key threes, and a couple key free throws, both late, scoring a team-high 20 points, in helping FC to a tight 67-65 win.

Three Rivers Conference

Wabasha-Kellogg 54, Chatfield 48 (C: D. Schindler 18 pts (6-9 FTs); Eli Hopp 11 pts, 5 rebs; Isaac Stevens 10 pts, 8 rebs; Sam Backer 7 pts, 9 rebs. Chatfield was 1 of 9 from deep. Gophers are down Cole Johnson and Drew O’Connor (injuries))

Fillmore Central 54, La Crescent/Hokah 62 (FC: Jayce Kiehne 14 pts (6-8 FTs), 6 rebs; Bryce Corson 10 pts; W. Parker 10 pts, 11 rebs; Dillon O’Connor 9 pts. Lancers led 29-28 at halftime, began second half with 14-5 run to lead 43-33. Falcons got as close as 49-46 but no closer. FC is without key juniors Luke Hellickson and Chase Christianson (football injuries)) 

Caledonia 73, Rushford-Peterson 50 (C: M. King 23 pts (5-13 threes), 4 asts; Lewis Doyle 18 pts (3-5 threes), 5 rebs, 5 asts; Ethan Stendel 8 pts, 11 rebs. R-P: G. Hengel 24 pts (5-6 FTs), 4 asts; D. Bunke 12 pts  Threes: Cal 11, RP 5) 

Cotter 65, Fillmore Central 67 (FC: G. Benson 20 pts (5-9 threes), 10 rebs; W. Parker 16 pts (7-10 FGs), 10 rebs; B. Corson 14 pts, 7 rebs, 4 asts. Benson hit a three to put FC up 58-56 (3:50) and another to put them up 61-58 (2:13). A Parker layup made it 63-58 (1:18). O’Connor made one key free throw (0:11.3) to make it 64-60.  Cotter then scored with 10.4 left to make it 64-62. Benson hit two free throws (0:08.2) to ice the game at 66-62. Teams combined to hit 16 threes (FC 7, C 9)) 

St. Charles 45, Chatfield 66 (C: D. Schindler 23 pts (10-17 FGs), 7 rebs, 4 asts; I. Stevens 18 pts, 9 rebs, 4 asts; E. Hopp 13 pts, (3-8 threes), 6 rebs; S. Backer 10 pts, 6 rebs) 

La Crescent/Hokah 54, Rushford-Peterson 55 (R-P: D. Bunke 25 pts (5-8 threes, 9-15 FGs), 7 rebs; G. Hengel 11 pts; S. Wilkemeyer 8 pts. Trailing 54-52, Riley Tesch hit a corner three, assisted by Hengel, for the game-winning bucket with 0:04 left. R-P was 8 of 16 from deep and also 7 of 9 from the free throw line (78%). They had just seven turnovers) 

Southeast Conference

Kingsland 59, Glenville-Emmons 37 (K: Jayden Brink 13 pts; Mason Kolling 13 pts, 12 rebs; Zach Reiland 9 pts (4-5 FGs); Courtland Drury-DeBoer 7 pts, 7 rebs; Ayden Howard 7 pts) 

Mabel-Canton 69, Grand Meadow 50 (M-C: C. Tollefsrud 22 pts, 9 rebs, 5 stls; Isaac Underbakke 12 pts, 6 rebs; Tyler Larson 11 pts; Riley Snell 10 pts, 5 rebs. GM: Jace Kraft 11 pts, 7 rebs; Alex Lopez 9 pts (3-7 threes); Tyler Reid 8 pts. Cougars > 2-1, 2-2)  

Schaeffer Academy 58, LeRoy-Ostrander 46 (L-O: C. Hungerholt 21 pts, 5 rebs, 4 asts; Carter Sweeney 9 pts, 4 stls) 

Rushford-Peterson’s Grady Hengel gets roughed a bit taking the ball to the hole versus Caledonia defenders Ethan Stendel (left) and Garrett Konz (right). Hengel had a big game, 24 points, but the Warriors rode the back-court of Mason King and Lewis Doyle (41 combined points) to a 73-50 win.

Lanesboro 54, Lyle/Pacelli 78 (L: Parker Storhoff 13 pts, 9 rebs; John Prestemon 13 pts, 5 stls; Logan Wilder 10 pts; Mason Howard 9 pts. Athletics led 41-21 at halftime. Burros got out-rebounded 55 to 34, yet took more shots (22 of 73 to 27 of 59). LP shot 46%, Lanesboro 30%. Burros won last year’s meeting 62-59. Lanesboro > 1-1, 2-1) 

Houston 30, Southland 72 (H: Carter Geiwitz 8 pts, 7 rebs; Casey Herek 6 pts, 5 rebs; Zach Olson 6 pts, 4 asts) 

Lyle/Pacelli 80, Kingsland 49 (K: J. Brink 12 pts; M. Kolling 8 pts, 6 rebs. LP led 37-29 at half)
