Spring Grove’s Tysen Grinde has signed a letter of intent to play football at Dakota State University, an N.A.I.A. school out of Madison, S. D. Grinde was a three-way standout for the Lions this past year, helping them to a State Runner-Up finish. He is with his parents Sarah and Wade Grinde.

Three Rivers Conference

Caledonia 71, Cotter 59 (Cal: L. Doyle 17 pts; Reid Klug 12 pts; Garrett Konz 9 pts; Mason King 9 pts; Ethan Stendel 8 pts. Ten Warriors scored. FTs: Cal 9 of 9 (100%), Cotter 14 of 22 (64%))

Chatfield 81, Dover-Eyota 42 (C: Drew Schindler 19 pts, 5 rebs, 9 asts; Drew O’Connor 16 pts (7-11 FGs), 7 rebs, 4 asts; Isaac Stevens 12 pts (6-7 FGs), 10 rebs; Luke Carrier 12 pts (6-10 FGs); Sam Backer 12 pts (5-7 FGs). Gophers were down Cole Johnson and Eli Hopp to injuries. Chatfield shot 34 of 57 (60%). Gophers > 5-3, 9-9) 

Southeast Conference

Lanesboro 43, Southland 55 (L: John Prestemon 15 pts, 7 rebs; Mason Howard 12 pts. Burros two lowest point totals have been their last two games, versus Southland (43) and versus L/P (38), both losses)

Houston 58, Grand Meadow 63 (GM: A. Lopez 21 pts (7-12 FGs, 3-5 threes, 4-5 FTs), 5 rebs; J. Kraft 20 pts (8-15 FGs), 6 rebs, 4 asts; Caleb George 14 pts (3-4 threes), 5 rebs. H: Morgan Rohweder 17 pts (5-14 threes); Carter Geiwitz 17 pts (6-11 FGs, 4-4 FTs), 14 rebs; Conner Porter 9 pts, 9 rebs; Zach Olson 6 pts, 5 asts. Houston never trailed in the first half. It was tied 31-31 at intermission. GM built a 54-43 second half lead. Houston closed to down 56-54 but got no closer. GM (1-12, 1-18) picked up its first win. Houston won the first meeting 55-46)

Grand Meadow 38, Lanesboro 78 (L: J. Prestemon 19 pts (3-4 threes, 8-14 FGs), 5 rebs, 4 asts; Logan Wilder 18 pts (6-9 threes); Parker Storhoff 13 pts (4-7 FGs, 4-4 FTs), 8 asts; Stephan Schultz 13 pts (6-8 FGs). GM: J. Kraft 15 pts; C. George 12 pts. Lanesboro hit 12 of 20 threes (60%) and 30 of 53 shots (57%). Burros > 10-5, 13-6. GM > 1-13, 1-19)

Chatfield running back Sam Backer signed his letter of intent to play college football at Minnesota State University – Mankato. Backer is flanked by his parents Scott and Jennifer while Chatfield football coach Jeff Johnson stands over shoulder. Backer is one the most statistically proficient running backs in Minnesota prep history, having helped Chatfield to back-to-back state title games, amassing over 7,000 career rushing yards and over 100 career total TDs.

Mabel-Canton 67, Houston 59 in OT (M-C: C. Tollefsrud 32 pts (11-17 FGs, 8-14 FTs), 9 rebs, 5 asts, 4 stls; Riley Snell 15 pts (6-9 FGs), 8 rebs, 4 stls; Hayden Erickson 6 pts, 7 rebs. H: C. Geiwitz 17 pts (5-7 threes, 6-11 FGs), 4 asts; C. Porter 12 pts (6-12 FGs), 7 rebs; M. Rohweder 11 pts, 5 rebs; Maddox Rodriguez 10 pts. M-C led by 18 in the second half, only for Houston to force OT. Rohweder hit a game-tying three with about a minute left. M-C won OT 12-4, giving up one free throw before a three at the buzzer. Threes: H 10 of 22 (45%), M-C 4 of 13 (31%). FTs: M-C 15 of 26 (58%), H 7 of 12 (58%). MC > 7-6, 10-9)

LeRoy-Ostrander 64, Houston 58 (L-O: C. Hungerholt 33 pts (4-7 threes, 7-8 FTs), 10 rebs; Layne Bird 11 pts. H: M. Rodriguez 19 pts; C. Geiwitz 10 pts, 11 rebs; C. Porter 10 pts, 8 rebs. Cardinals overcame a 39-30 halftime deficit. L-O (2-12, 3-16) ended a seven-game losing streak and avenged a 67-64 loss to Houston on January 27. Houston > 4-12, 5-15)
