Since 1999, the Bluff Country Gathering has been bringing traditional musicians from across the U.S. to teach workshops and perform in Lanesboro. The festival takes place May 19-22, with a concert of all the staff on Friday, May 20 and a barn dance on Saturday. Both of these are open to the public and take place at the Lanesboro Community Center at 8 p.m.
The performers booked this year to play the concert include fiddlers (two are winners of the prestigious Appalachian String Band Fiddle Contest), banjo and guitar players, Appalachian ballad and early country music singers, string bands, and clog dancers.
The Saturday night dance will be called by Brian DeMarcus from Alaska and feature three different old time bands. All the square dances will be taught, no partner is needed, no experience required.
Tickets are available at the door both nights. For more information: www.boveeheil.com/bluff-country-gathering.htm or call (507) 498-5452.
