Bill Clemens, 60, of Chatfield, Minn., passed away peacefully at St. Marys Hospital, surrounded by family and loved ones on Monday, July 10, 2023.
Bill was born August 28, 1962, to Gerald (Jerry) Clemens and Shirley (Strande) Clemens. He grew up in rural Chatfield, Minn., and graduated from Chosen Valley High School. He resided near his childhood farm with his wife and companion of 19 years.
Bill was a hard worker, putting in long hours operating heavy construction equipment with a keen eye for craftmanship. He was the owner/operator of Clemens Excavating and worked throughout SE Minnesota. He had several hobbies that centered around engines and mechanics. His workshop was always busy with activity as his expertise and willingness to fix about anything was often sought out. He enjoyed stock car racing at many local tracks, where he won multiple season championships. He also enjoyed farming and hunting. Bill made countless friends over the years who were endeared with his incredible work ethic, boundless energy, sense of fun and willingness to help a friend in need. He continued this generosity to the very end as a Gift of Life donor where he will forever be remembered as a hero who saved others’ lives.
Bill is survived by his wife Chris, daughters Karlie (Chance) Jandel and Nikita York, son Dakota York (Grace Senjem), mother Shirley Clemens, brothers Mike, John (Sam), Pat (Angela), Tim (Jennifer), Dan (Lynn) and Matt (Erin); sisters Anne (Joe) Mandt, Margaret (Joel) Viss, Sara (JD) Root, and Sue (Todd) Clemens. Bill was a loving father, husband, and friend to many.
Bill is preceded in death by his father Jerry.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 14 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Chatfield Minn. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, July 22, from 6-10 p.m. at Bill and Chris’ farm, where we hope to see his many friends from around the area. A small family service will be held in lieu of a funeral.
