Beverly Holmes obituary, Fillmore County Journal

After a courageous battle with cancer, Beverly passed away August 27, 2026, at the age of 95, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Beverly was born December 7, 1930, to Palma and Joseph M. Larson. She graduated from Mabel High School in 1948. She attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and it was there that she met her husband Ralph (Lee) Holmes. They were married in 1953. Beverly taught in high schools and Ralph was a band director in those schools. In 1969, the family moved to Edmonton, Canada, where Ralph oversaw the music programs for all schools in the city of Edmonton as an instrumental consultant. Beverly taught business education classes at Jasper Composite High School until her retirement. Many students benefited from her genuine warmth and encouraging manner. In retirement, Beverly and Ralph enjoyed fishing, playing Bridge and making wonderful memories with their granchildren and later, their great-grandchildren. Beverly was always ready for an impromtu shopping trip and other outings and would never miss a Christmas concert, play or sports event at the school. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and the passion is now shared by her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed summer visits from her brother Joe and his wife Deanna and her nephew Paul. This spring she also met her youngest great-grandson Levi for the first time.

She is survived by her sons Stephen (Brenda), David, and Jon; grandson Sean (Jaclyn), granddaughter Jennifer (Cody), great-grandchildren Sydney, Zoe, Finn, Raya and Levi; and her brother Joe Larson and sister-in-law Deanna Larson; and several nieces and nephews.

Her legacy of love and caring will live on throught everyone whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, sisters Phyllis Emery and Dorothy Brandenburg, and infant daughter Pam.
