Beverly D. Brenno, 96, of Rochester, Minn., passed away Wednesday morning April 7, 2021, at Samaritan Bethany, Rochester, Minn.
Beverly was born October 22, 1924, in Burr Oak, Iowa, to Miles and Valeda (Murdock) Wilbur. She attended country schools and graduated from Decorah, Iowa, High School. On June 1, 1942, she joined in marriage with Fordyce L. Brenno of Mabel, Minn. Together they farmed in the Mabel area for a number of years before moving to Austin, Minn., in 1951. There Beverly worked at a number of retailers and eventually one of the local banks while raising three children. In 1969 Beverly moved to Rochester, Minn., where her husband was working and she went to work for Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo) where she worked for 181/2 years before retiring.
During many of those years Beverly and her husband loved to go dancing, play cards, etc. with other couples. Getting together for holidays, weddings, birthdays, and other events. with family was very important and was very much enjoyed by Beverly (especially when the grandkids started arriving). She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester where she was active in volunteering with such activities as baking, lefse making, sewing adult bibs, and more.
Beverly is survived by two children, Arlene (Virgil) Thofson of Albert Lea, Minn., and Neil (Arlene) Brenno of St. Cloud, Minn.; six grandchildren: Beau (Laura) Brenno of Lakeville, Minn., Dain (Amy) Brenno of Lakeville, Minn., James (Keely) Brenno of Henderson, Minn., Katy (Joe) Howe of Burnsville, Minn., Christine (Clint) Fenner of Waconia, Minn., and Jason Brenno of Minneapolis, Minn.; 16 great-grandchildren, aof Chatfield, Minn., a daughter-in-law, Joan Brenno of Burnsville, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fordyce, her son Gary, sisters Eleanor Dinger, Margerite Soiney, Audrey Stead, and Jeanette Inglett; and brother Ronald Wilbur.
The children of Beverly would sincerely like to thank the staff at Samaritan Bethany & Seasons Hospice of Rochester, Minn., for their superb care provided for their mother these past four months.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021, at the Garness Trinity Lutheran Church, Mabel, Minn., with Pastor Leonard Liptack officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (1 p.m.) at the church. Funeral preparation handled by Mengis Funeral Home, Mabel, Minn. Face masks and safe distancing will be required.
