Beverly Ann Patterson, 80, of Spring Grove, Minn., passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
Beverly was born November 19, 1941, in Waukon, Iowa, to William “Bill” and Mary (Hennessey) Nelson. She graduated from the Spring Grove High School in 1959 and then attended Winona State University. On August 14, 1965, she married Allen Patterson at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel. They lived in Cresco until 1971 when they moved to Bev’s home farm near Spring Grove, where they have resided since. Bev was crowned queen in the Hesper-Mabel Steam Engine Days in 1961. Bev worked at the Spring Grove Hospital, several area restaurants, and 17 years at Kwik Trip.
Bev was a member of the St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel and had been a 4-H Leader with the Newhouse Norsemen, was an election judge, and had served on the ASCS Board for four years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, needlepoint, gardening, flowers, collecting roosters and cardinals, and her grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by her husband Allen of Spring Grove, a daughter, Patricia (Jim) Schieber of Caledonia; sons Mike (Cheryl) of Spring Grove and Wayne (Lori) of Spring Grove, grandchildren Katie (Dayne) Heintz, Joseph (Tori) Schieber, Maria Schieber, Austin Patterson, Ryan Ostern, and Cullen Patterson; brother-in-law Richard (Ora Mae) Patterson, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Blue.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, Mabel. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Preston. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, October 6 at the St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
