Beverly Ann Benson, a beloved member of the Rushford community, passed away unex-pectedly on Thursday, December 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion.
Bev was born on June 12, 1932, in Rural Lanesboro, Minn., and graduated from Austin High School in 1950. Bev and Max were united in married on January 21, 1961.
Bev found great joy in serving her community. Bev volunteered tirelessly, weaving herself into the fabric of various organizations. Her involvement in 4-H and the Rushford Lutheran Church Circles allowed Bev to foster relationships and make a positive impact on the lives of those around her. She was a founding member of The Bevs Club, and an avid bowler. Additionally, Bev actively participated in the Red Hats Club, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Root River Saddle Club, Jockey Club at Canterbury Downs, Federated Women’s Club, and The 500 Club.
Bev enjoyed traveling in her younger years. She started her working career at Hormel Foods, transitioned into farming for many years, and spent her last working years at Christianson Pharmacy. She was a great support of all her children and grandchildren in everything they did, especially of their sports teams. She often babysat for grandkids and they all knew that they could go to their grandma for anything.
Yet, for Bev, her true joy came from entertaining others and providing food and drinks. Her table was always open, and she delighted in sharing meals and creating memories with friends and family. Beverly’s generosity and welcoming nature knew no bounds, as she never turned away those in need.
Beverly’s legacy of selflessness will be carried on by her children, who embody their mother’s spirit of giving and community involvement.
Bev is survived by her children Tracy (Dana) Coulter, Toni (Kenny) Highum, Terri Benson, and McLean (Becky) Benson; grandchildren Shane (Danielle Kingsley) Coulter, Cody (Grace) Coulter, Jacob (Erin) Highum, Tyler Highum, Kyra Benson and Tanner Benson; great-grandchildren Mya Kingsley, Harper “Beverly” Highum and Piper Highum; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
