Beulah Lavonne Vongroven,  93, of Mabel, formerly of Canton, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Green Lea Senior Living in Mabel.

Beulah LaVonne Vongroven was born on July 2, 1925, to Oscar and Inga (Storlie) Treangen in Houston County.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Riceford Lutheran Church.  She attended the Kelly School in the Riceford area, where she also worked as a hired hand for people.

On December 30, 1948, she married Silas Vongroven at the Waterloo Ridge Lutheran parsonage.  They farmed in Houston and Fillmore Counties.  She was a member of the Henrytown Lutheran Church, the Newburg Garden Club, church circle, and Ladies Aid.  She also worked with Lutheran Brotherhood and taught Sunday School for over 20 years.  She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, sewing and quilting, and spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.

Beulah is survived by a son, Stanley (LuAnn) of Decorah, Iowa; two granddaughters, Lana (Jerry) Scrabeck of Lanesboro, Minn., and Sara (Tina) Palmer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four  great-grandchildren: Nelson, Kristen, Jasmine, and Nevaeh; a sister, Inez Wenthold of Mabel; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Treangen; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers: Clifford, Odell, and Tilman; and two sisters-in-law, Verna Treangen, and Ione Treangen.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m on Monday, August 20, 2018, at the Henrytown Lutheran Church, in rural Canton. Burial will be in the Henrytown Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, August 19 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.   www.mengisfuneralhome.com .
