Betty Ann Shaw, of Chatfield, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Saint Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Betty Ann Johnson was born August 2, 1936, to Carl and Opal (Molde) Johnson at Salem Corner Township, rural Byron. She attended Byron school and graduated from Byron High School. After high school she worked at the Methodist Hospital in the dietary department. She met the love of her life, Spencer Shaw at the Pla-Mor Ballroom in Rochester, Minn. They were married on August 5, 1956, at East St. Olaf Church in Rock Dell. They moved to Chatfield and she worked at Rex’s Café and Silver Grille in Chatfield. She then started at Mayo Clinic in 1978, in janitorial, until 1998 when both she and Spencer retired.
Betty enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling, going on horse trail rides or anything to be with her family. She was a member of the Chatfield Saddle Club, Rochester Riders Saddle Club, and the Hiawatha Sno- Seekers Snowmobile Club.
Betty is survived by her husband Spencer Shaw, of 65 years; daughter Donna Aas of Chatfield, son Terry (Cherie) Shaw of Chatfield; granddaughter Nicole (Scott) McCabe of Chatfield, stepgranddaughters Julie (Chris) Cordes of Kenyon and Jenni (Peter) Lieske of Winona; great-grandchild Kolten McCabe; step-great-grandchildren Luke and Lilly Cordes; one sister, Dorothy Moen of Byron; two sisters-in-law, Beata Zinke of Rochester and Linda Johnson of Rochester.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jerry and Ronnie Johnson; and an infant brother, a sister in-law, Maxine Narveson, son-in-law Art Aas, and a grandson, Jeremy Aas.
A private family graveside service and burial will be held later this spring, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Chatfield.
