Bethany Syverson

July 23, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal

Bethany Syverson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

September 1, 1990 – July 8, 2025

Bethany Syverson, age 34, of Harmony, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wis., after a short battle with ALS. Loved ones surrounded her; she left this world behind to enter into the presence of her Savior.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Berean Community Church, 3157 Kenosha Dr. NW in Rochester, Minn. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.

Service was livestreamed at www.youtube.com/@bereancommunitychurch-roch4264

Born to Scott and Karen Oesterlin, on September 1, 1990, in Rochester, Minn., Beth grew up in Rochester, graduating from John Marshall High School in 2008.

Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to the University of Northwestern St. Paul, where she earned a B.S. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 2012.

Beth’s professional life was a testament to her deep love for children. For nine years, she taught at Aldrich Preschool in Rochester, where her gentle spirit and kind heart endeared her to her students, their parents, and her colleagues.

Beyond the classroom, Beth dedicated nearly two decades of service to Camp Victory Ministries in Zumbro Falls, Minn. As the Kids Camp director, and in various other roles, she beautifully combined her passion for children with her unwavering commitment to sharing the message of Jesus with them.

Beth’s life was characterized by her faithful, loyal, loving, kind, gentle, generous and goofy nature. Beth had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She found joy in spending time with loved ones, making and enjoying music, sitting by the river at Camp Victory, long walks, and savoring her morning coffee on the porch while reading her Bible.

More than anything else in this world, Beth adored her nieces, nephews, students, Kid’s Camp children, and a special group of Buddies. Beth was a beloved aunt, teacher, mentor and friend to countless children. Her impact on the lives of these young people is immeasurable.

On July 9, 2022, Beth married the love of her life, Jordan Syverson, and they settled in rural Harmony, Minn. They had planned on a lifetime of serving God together and of raising a family. Though their dreams were cut short by Beth’s illness, God’s faithfulness and provision, and Beth’s and Jordan’s trust in Him continued to be demonstrated in their lives. Throughout her battle with ALS it was Beth’s greatest desire that her life would be used to point others to Christ, and to the eternal life and hope that He offers.

Beth is survived by her husband Jordan Syverson, parents Karen Holmes and Scott (Roxanne) Oesterlin, and siblings Tim (Alischa) Oesterlin, and Holly (Jonathan) Miller. Beth is also survived by her in-laws James and Laurie Syverson and siblings-in-law Chris (Clara) Syverson, Josie (Quentin) Case, Ciera (Peter) Irwin, Jesse (Alexa) Syverson, and Tillie, Ellie, Anna and Promise Syverson. Beth was a beloved aunt to Sophia Oesterlin, Violet and Edward Miller, Judah and Ava Syverson, Jasmine and Ransom Case, and Azaiah, Rogan and William Irwin. Beth is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins: Dan and Debbie Holmes (Tom and Ben, Amanda, Sarah), Rebecca Rolstad and Dana Koenig, Bob and Sharee Oesterlin (Rob and Jon), Steve Kristi Holmes (Matthew), and Jonathan and Dawn Holmes (Caylin and Colin).

Beth was preceded in death by her grandparents Leona and Robert Oesterlin and Jack and Lois Holmes, and by her Uncle Steve Rolstad.

We want to thank everyone who rallied around Beth and Jordan Syverson during her journey with ALS. We were overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and help shown to them.

On July 8, 2025, Beth’s journey with ALS came to an end. She is finally home free. Her faith in Jesus has become sight.
