Beryl Edith Blexrud

Beryl Edith Blexrud, 91, of Mabel passed away February 1, 2019 at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, where she had resided since January 11.
She was born May 26, 1927 to Bernt and Esther (Spande) Amdahl in Preble Township, MN. Beryl graduated from Mabel High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked as the secretary for the high school. Beryl was later employed as the front office manager at the Mabel Clinic. She also worked as a typesetter for the local newspaper, The Mabel Record. On March 8, 1952, she married Kermit Blexrud. They farmed in the rural Canton area until retiring and moving to Mabel in 1990. Beryl was an avid gardener, enjoyed needlework and oil painting. She loved nature and especially enjoyed watching and feeding wild birds. Beryl was also an exceptional cook and baker. Her pies, especially rhubarb or apple, were exquisite. Beryl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her son Kevin (Tabby) Blexrud and their son, Lucas; two daughters Marceil Blexrud of Rochester, and Kathryn (Mark) Panicek of Whitefish, Montana and their daughters Kimberly and Lauren; two sisters Audrey Iverson, Mabel and Gwynne Scheel, Mabel; and several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit.
Funeral Services will be held 1 PM, Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Rev. Elizabeth Hermeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
