Beneke Immigrants from Germany

We are very lucky to live in this country. We are free to do what we want. I am 90 years old and even my parents and grandparents were free to make their own choices. My grandparents (Beneke) came over from Germany for a better life. They wanted freedom! They made a life out of farming. It was a good life for them even though sometimes it could be a hard life. They put their freedom to worship too. The first thing they did when they came over was to help build a church. Faith was very important. The church is still alive today and I am a member of St John’s U.C.C. If it wasn’t for the opportunity of freedom for my grandparents, I would not be who I am today.
