Mabel-Canton baseball went 3-2 on the week. But two of the three wins were of the walk-off variety. Verus SEC leader Southland (9-3), M-C led 5-3 thru six innings. The Rebels tied it 5-5 in the top of the seventh, then scored in the top of the eighth to lead 6-5.  Cougar Milton Hutchinson had the game-tying single in the bottom of the eighth and Brevyn Tollefsrud the walk-off game-winning single one via bunt hit, stolen base combo. M-C won 7-6 in eight innings! Hutchinson (2-3, 3 RBI, R), Kale Tollefsrud (2-4, 2B, 3 R), Issac Underbakke (1-4, 3 R), Kale Eiken (1-3, 2 RBI, 6 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 5 K, No Decision), Treyson Tollefsrud (1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, Win), and B- Tollefsrud (1-3, RBI) did work for M-C, which lost the teams’ first meeting. In a Saturday double-shot with GMLOK, the Bulldogs took game one 13-3 in five innings behind a 10-run fifth.   Tate Rasmussen (1-3, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 R) Lennon Falck (2-3, 2 R), Dan Lund (1-4, RBI, R), Carter Strobel (1-3, RBI, R), and Jayden Smith (5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 6 BB, 1 K, Win) led the way.  K-Tollefsrud (1-2, 3B, R) and Eiken (1-2, R) were M-C’s best.  In game two, the game was tied 8-8 after seven. The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the top of the eighth with no out, but did not score. Underbakke doubled and Hutchinson followed with the walk-off single in a 9-8 Cougar win. Hutchinson (2-4, 3B) drove in four.  Underbakke (2-3, 2B, 3 R), K-Tollefsrud (1-3, 3 R, 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K), Nolan Garness (1-3, RBI, R), and T-Tollefsrud 5 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 6 K, Win) also did work.  GMLOK was led by Jackson Soltau (3-4, 2B, RBI, 2 R), Lund (2-4, 2 RBI, R), and Mason Janssen (1-2, R).  M-C improved to 5-4 (SEC), 8-9 (overall).  GMLOK is 3-8 (SEC), 3-13 (overall).  The Cougars also lost to L/P 12-2 and beat Medford 13-11 (See “Baseball”).
