Arlene E. Thoreson, 93, of Harmony, Minn., died on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Gundersen Harmony Care Center.
Arlene Eleanor Olson was born July 7, 1928, to Albert K. and Elnora (Larson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Saetersdal Lutheran Church, where her grandfather was a founding member. Arlene attended country schools and then graduated from Harmony High School. The farm where she grew up has been in her family since 1864. She enjoyed living on her farm where they raised sheep and other livestock. On November 10, 1950, Arlene was united in marriage to Elwood Thoreson at Saetersdal Lutheran Church. Elwood passed away December 25, 2003.
Arlene liked to spend her free time gardening flowers and growing vegetables. She had several creative hobbies such as sewing, quilting, crocheting, and crafting. She was a member of the Neighborhood Craft Club and was a very talented artist. She also enjoyed playing games and doing puzzles. Family was very important to Arlene and she will be deeply missed.
Arlene is survived by her children Sharilyn Thoreson and Allan Thoreson both of Harmony, and Janet (Larry) Webb of Spring Valley, Minn.; grandchildren, Justin (Mel) TerBeest and their children Corbin and Marek of Somerset, Wis., Aaron (Nicki) TerBeest and their children Gabbi, Phoebe and Daphne of Decorah, Iowa, and Danielle TerBeest of Ostrander, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Elwood.
Funeral services for Arlene will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Saetersdal Lutheran Church in rural Harmony, Minn., with Pastor Jeff Jacobs officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Friday afternoon at the church.
