April 14, 2021 by Fillmore County Journal

Allene Haugstad Obituary - Fillmore County Journal

Allene I. Haugstad, 95, of Preston, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Allene was born April 2, 1926, in Preston, Minn, to Albert and Ida (Vaalemoen) Kaase. She attended school in Preston.  On July 12, 1947, she married Henry Haugstad at the parsonage in Lanesboro.  She worked for many years at Rush Products in Rushford.  She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.  Henry passed away in 1994. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her children and grandchildren were most important to her, and she never missed any school event or birthday party. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, making lefse, and attending family events.  Her apple pie was the best ever.  She traveled with her sister-in-law to California and Hawaii and went on a cruise for her granddaughter’s wedding.

Allene is survived by four children: Gary of Hayfield, Sandy Rein of Lanesboro, Doni (Melinda) of Hayfield, and Shari (Greg) Qualy of Lanesboro; grandchildren: Heather (J.J.) Haugstad of Seattle, Jesse (Brad) Pike of Bayport, John (Michelle) Rein of Lanesboro, Jeff (Ashley) Rein of Mabel, Justin (Tonya) Rein of Kasson, and Josh (Kristi) Rein of Lanesboro, Travis (Crissy) Haugstad of Stewartville, Jeremy (Brandy) Haugstad of Hayfield, Brandon (Kristi) Qualy of Lanesboro, Zach (Emily) Qualy of Alaska, and Tyler Qualy of Lanesboro; 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, a brother, Stan Kaase of Preston; and sisters-in-law Betty Halverson of Arizona and Donna Haugstad of Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, a brother, Orlando; an infant daughter, son-in-law John Rein, and daughter-in-law Barb Haugstad, who passed away one week before Allene.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro, with Rev. Kerry Eversole officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Prairie Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting the family with arrangements.
