Allen Elmer “Tom” Ronnenberg, age 78, of Sugar Loaf Senior Living in Winona, formerly of St. Paul, Minn., died Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living.
He was born September 16, 1945, in Winona, Minn., the son of Elmer and Esther (Oldendorf) Ronnenberg, Jr. He graduated from Lewiston High School, the class of 1963. He went on to attend Mankato State University, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. From 1969-1975 he honorably served our country as a member of the Army Reserve. He held many job titles over the years, most recently owning and operating several Subway restaurants throughout the Twin Cities.
Tom was a generous and caring man. He doted on each of his nieces and nephews. He loved to organize events, including many family gatherings and high school reunions.
He is survived by his siblings Jeannette Colbenson, Shirley Pelowski, Garry (Diane) Ronnenberg, and Debra (Roger) Holm; nieces and nephews Ann (Mike) Hallum, Susan (Marc) Fournier, Barb (Scott) Bartelson, Tara King, Cori Ronnenberg, Heath (Jenny) Ronnenberg, Ryan (Sarah) Holm, and Nathan (Kaitlin) Holm; 17 great-nieces and nephews, and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Henry Colbenson and James Pelowski, nephew Rick Pelowski, and special friend Rick Preuss.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, with Rev. Steve Chellew officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Hart, Minn.
