Allen "Bud" Fitting obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Allen L. “Bud” Fitting, 90, of Houston, Minn., died on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis. 

Bud was born on April 7, 1932, in Money Creek, Minn., to George and Myrtle (Corey) Fitting. He attended Money Creek School through the eighth grade and was a 1950 graduate of Houston High School. Bud served as a cook in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1952 to 1954. On February 19, 1955, Bud was united in marriage with Janice Knutson at Money Creek United Methodist Church in Money Creek, Minn., where Bud was a lifetime member. He farmed with his wife and brothers for several years. He drove school bus for Money Creek School and Houston School for 27 years. Bud and his brothers Ralph and Rolland started Money Creek Campground in 1962. He operated the campground for 49 years. Bud and Janice were caretakers at Valley View Manor Apartments in Houston from 1980 until the present time.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, brothers  Ralph and Rolland, and sisters-in-law Lillian, and Joye Fitting.

He is survived by his wife Janice, four children: Gary Fitting, Karen (Cody) Cripps, Wayne (Carla) Fitting, and Dean (Melissa) Fitting; six grandchildren: Nicole (Knute) Knutson, Derick (Karen) Cripps, Brooke (Dan) Raeker, Mackenzie (Steve Phonethep) Fitting, Troy (Allary) Fitting, Casey (Graham Snyder) Fitting; and five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Aspyn, Henry, George, and Kenna.

There will be a funeral service for Bud at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Money Creek United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home in Houston, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials directed to the donor’s choice.
