Allan Robert Larson

February 20, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal

Allan Larson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Allan Robert Larson, age 78, of Houston, Minn., died Monday, February 19, 2024, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis.

Allan was born November 20, 1945, in Rushford, Minn., the son of Irving and Frances (Tracey) Larson.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Conflict. While he was in basic training, he met his Army buddy, Ray Pedri. Later in life Allan and Ray reconnected, and the two remained friends.

Allan was united in marriage to Kay Brooks on January 18, 1969, in St. John’s Catholic Church in Winona, Minn., and to this union one son was born. He worked in construction for several years, until he decided to move back to the family farm. Allan farmed with his father and uncle until they retired. He took over the farm until his retirement in 1996. He loved to travel, enjoying trips with Kay to Florida, Arizona, Texas and Alaska. Allan enjoyed many happy hours, especially at the VFW. He was also a past commander at Rushford VFW Post #5905. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Allen’s favorite fishing partner was his son Jason, although he was always outfished by him. One of his favorite pastimes was stopping in for a cold one.  Allan was a loving grandfather, and was so proud of his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Kay of Houston, son Jason (Diane) Larson of Houston, and grandchildren Elizabeth and Amanda of Houston.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Jared Larson.

A visitation will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 4-7pm at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, Minn.
