Alice Cummings, age 93, of Chatfield, Minn., formerly from Preston, Minn., died on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Chosen Valley Care Center, Chatfield, Minn.
A memorial service will be held for Alice at 11 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church, Preston, Minn., Pastor Kris Hertsgaard Kincaid will be officiating. The family will greet friends and family beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, one hour before the memorial service begins. Alice will be buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston, Minn., following the memorial service at the church. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Alice Marie Crowson, born on July 9, 1931, to Jay and Frances (Raabe) Crowson, of Wykoff, Minn., attended country school during her childhood and graduated from Wykoff High School in 1949. Following high school, she moved to Preston and married Warren Vitse; they later divorced. Alice was then united in marriage to Donald O’Connor, who tragically passed in 1976. Alice then married Warren Cummings.
She held numerous jobs over the years at the Preston Bakery, Root River Clinic, Preston Motor Mart, and she retired after working for R.L. Sauer M.D. Alice was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and their Service Group, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the sewing club group. she volunteered on the Preston Ambulance Crew and was a den leader with the Boy Scouts.
Alice enjoyed walking with her neighbors, coffee with friends, baking, cooking, canning produce from her garden, fishing at the lake, feeding birds in the backyard, and Friday night Happy Hour at the Club pulling a tab or two. Alice cherished time with her family and friends and loved having visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Dean Vitse, of Moose Lake; Jean (Greg) Easler, of Chatfield; Gail (Mike) Schmidt, of Chatfield; son-in-law Todd Hadoff, of Chatfield; Jayne (Jeff) Madison, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and Julie (David) Stolp, of Oronoco; 15 grandchildren: Hannah (Travis) House, Lydia (Kaz) Vitse, Isabell (Jeff) Heim, Kaiya (Jayson) Ralston, Andrew (Alisa) Easler, Kendall (Amy) Easler-Yanta, Jordan (Danielle) Berge, Landon (Bria) Berge, Kale Hadoff, Madison (Kyle) Melcher, Sophie Madison, Jack Madison, Ellin (Blake) Arett, Emalie (Derek) Kubista, and Grace (Riley) Weis; 22 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Sandy Crowson, Carol Gosi, Phyllis Weathers and Kay Ristau; and brother-in-law Pat O’Connor.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Warren, Don and Warren; daughter Carol Hadoff, twin brothers Lloyd Crowson and Lyle Crowson, and grandson Toston Vitse.

She was a spectacular person and humble.
She was so proud of her family and loved to share stories. Her baking was an Art for sure!
Alice looked forward to holidays and family. She loved playing games.
She will be truly missed especially at the Care Center where Alice touched so many lives and
brought sunshine to every day!
