Alfred Hagen obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Alfred Karl Hagen, age 82, of Spring Grove, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at Gundersen Harmony Care Center in Harmony, Minnesota.

He was born April 19, 1944, to James and Alma (Sylling) Hagen. He was a lifelong Spring Grove area resident.

He was a Spring Grove High School graduate. While attending school he excelled in FFA, and made All Conference in football.

Al bought his first farm in 1965, it was 200 acres and was known as the Bekkemo Farm. He and his brother Paul farmed for many years.

On November 26, 1971, he married Lorraine Larson at Trinity Lutheran Church. Lorraine preceded Al in death on March 3, 2023.

Al enjoyed looking at want ads and farm publications. He also enjoyed collecting toy tractors, and enjoyed playing cards. Al also liked to go to farm shows, and never missed the Minnesota State Fair, where he loved to spend the day on Machinery Hill.

Survivors include his stepchildren Jeff (Sue) Olson of Stillwater, Minnesota, Karen (Warren) Steffen of Cresco, Iowa, and Kris Olson of Spring Grove; grandchildren Jared Steffen, Sara Steffen-Hollenbeck, and Kelsey Banicki; five great-grandchildren, his siblings Janet (Charles) Carstensen of Rochester, Minnesota, Alice “Kathryn” (Tom) Lambuth of Lexington, Kentucky, and Paul ( Catherine) Hagen of Spring Grove. Also numerous nieces and nephews and a special cousin, Barbara Arnold, and several cousins that are farther away.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Gundersen Harmony Care Center for the excellent care given Al.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Lane Zaffke will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

Roble Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
