Abbreviated Board Meeting Minutes June 16, 2025

The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by School Board Chair Mike Peterson at 5:30 p.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Derek Adamson, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, and Spencer Yohe.  Also present were Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Gretchen Juan, Barb Meyer, Karen Schiltz, and Kaitlin Longhauser. Absent were Craig Ihrke, Julie Augedahl, Chad Harms and school board representative Samantha Peters.

Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  The resolution accepting donations was moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Leigh King.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  Whereupon, said Resolution was declared duly adopted.  Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Leigh King to approve the following consent agenda items: approval of May 19, 2025, regular school board minutes; approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $657,515.46 along with electronic transfers from MSDLAF to Merchants Bank in the amount of $950,000.00; approve the Schmitz Bus Service two-year transportation contract extension for the 2025-2026 school year and the 2026-2027 school year as presented; grant tenure to the following full-time, non-tenured probationary staff members: Katie Block, David Lind, Mason Staggemeyer, and Rachel Staggemeyer; ratify the hiring of Nicole Meyer as a full-time high school math teacher beginning the 2025-2026 school year at BA/1 at $47,739.00 based on the 2023-2025 teacher master agreement; approve the maternity leave request of Hailey Frideres to begin around the birth of her child on October 20, 2025, and with a return date of January 5, 2026, given there are no complications; approval of the 2025-2026 District Employee Handbook, the Coaches Handbook, and the Middle/High School Student/Parent Handbook as presented.   The Elementary Student/Parent Handbook will be presented for board approval at the July meeting; approval of the Use of School District Facilities and Equipment Policy #902; accept the resignation of Maria Felten as junior class advisor at the end of the 2024-2025 school year with thanks for her dedication in this position for our school district.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the bread product bid from Pan-O-Gold for the 2025-2026 school year.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Derek Adamson to approve the dairy product bid from Ziebell’s Foods for the 2025-2026 school year.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Spencer Yohe to approve the gasoline/fuel bid from Kwik Trip for the 2025-2026 school year.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  Moved by Leigh King, seconded by Mike Peterson to adopt the school budget for the 2025-2026 school year.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.  Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Derek Adamson to adjourn the meeting at 6:19 p.m.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote,
