Both Lanesboro (4-1, 4-1) and LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle/Pacelli (4-1, 4-1) entered their week six game tied for second place in the South-East with Spring Grove (4-1, 4-1) behind Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons (5-0, 5-0). Despite the even records, the home Burros walked out with a resounding victory. James Semmen’s group scored TDs and converted two on each of their first six possessions. A Braylen Hanson (backup QB) to Teague Tessum (starting QB) 35-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring, and a 41-yard Tessum to Cooper Holtegaard 41-yard scoring play with 1:35 left in the second quarter, were two key plays. The later, with Quadyn Kettner conversion run, made it 40-12, capping the first half blitz. Tessum to Holtegaard was the last in a series of plays in the second quarter that helped basically ice the game with a full half left to play. The first second quarter score was a 1-yard Semmen run that (with Semmen conversion) made it 24-12. Tessum then intercepted L-O/L/P quarterback Reid Hungerholt. After two chunk plays, Charles Guma scored on a 6-yard TD run, and Tessum hit Semmen for the conversion, to make it 32-12. Holtegaard scored minutes later. Up 40-12 at the half, the Burros won convincingly, 60-24. They had 60 on the board in three quarters. Behind big lineman, center James Cullen, guards Carson Nagel and Jackson Hearon, the Burros ran for 314 yards. Big back Henry Semmen (16-122, 2 TDs rushing, 15-yard reception, two total conversions) was the battering ram. Tessum (8-65, 3 TDs rushing; 2-37, TD receiving) had four total TDs. The sophomore (3 of 3, 77 yards, TD passing) and junior QB Hanson (2 of 2, 37 yards, TD passing; 21-yard reception) were 5-of-5 combined passing for 114 yards. Guma (12-47, TD rushing), Kettner (7-37, three conversions rushing), and Preston Clarke (9-43, conversion rushing) helped. Hungerholt (10 of 25, 243 yards, 3 TDs, INT passing; 19-74, TD rushing) did more of his damage through the air. Banning Korfhage, a sophomore, was his top target (4-157, 2 TDs receiving). He had catches of 47 (TD), 34, and 62 (TD). Hunter Wollenburg (4-68, TD receiving) also caught a score. The teams combined for 20 penalties with the Cardinals’ infractions totaling over 120 yards. AC/G-E (6-0, 6-0), ranked #7, now leads Lanesboro (5-1, 5-1) and SG (5-1, 5-1) atop the South-East with L-O/L/P (4-2, 4-2) in fourth place. It was the Burros’ fourth straight win after a week two loss to AC/G-E 28-22.
