Non-Conference Volleyball (9/21 thru 9/25)

In a loss to Lewiston-Altura, Rushford-Peterson sophomore Addison Drinkall (with sign) recorded her 1,000th career dig. Drinkall is easily the Trojans’ leader in digs this season with over 300 already.

Houston 1, La Crescent/Hokah 3 > 25-23, 14-25, 23-25, 21-25 (H: Natalie Skifton 7 kills, 3 aces; E. Melbo 5 kills, 12 digs; S. Keehner 19 assists, 7 digs; B. Rodriguez 20 digs)

Class A Showcase (Fillmore Central, ranked #1 in Class A, went 3-0 to win its pool, beating Chisholm 3-0 (25-20, 25-12), Canby 2-0 (25-21, 25-17), and Mabel-Canton 2-1 (25-12, 23-25, 15-13). M-C, ranked #9 in Class A, went 1-2 in the same pool, beating Canby 2-1 (25-23, 16-25, 15-6) while losing to Chisholm 0-2 (23-25, 20-25) and the Falcons. Spring Grove went 0-3 in pool play, losing to #7 in A Sacred Heart 0-2 (15-25, 23-25), #2 in A Minneota 0-2 (22-25, 16-25), and Ely (23-25, 22-25). Sacred Heart improved to 14-0 with the win and the Vikings (15-2) won the tourney to move into the #1 spot in Class A. FC then went 0-2 in the Gold Bracket, losing to #5 in A Kenyon-Wanamingo 1-2 (25-21, 23-25, 10-15) and #6 in A Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 0-2 (23-25, 21-25). They took fourth place and are 5-0 in the TRC, 13-3 overall. They dropped to #4 in the polls. Senior libero Josie Corson picked up her 1,000th career dig. Falcon tourney leaders were M. Zwart (39 kills, 13 total blocks), Corson (70 digs), L. Dahly (35 kills, 9 aces), N. Nagel (32 kills, 42 digs, 8 aces). H. Vaalemoen (24 kills, 58 assists), B. Dierkes (58 assists), and A. Larson (36 digs). M-C went 0-2 in the Bronze Bracket, losing to MACCRAY 0-2 (23-25, 21-25) and Ely 1-2 (25-17, 18-25, 12-15). They took 12th place. Cougar tourney leaders: B. Stortz (55 kills, 45 digs, 8 aces), E. Halverson (43 kills), G. Rein (107 assists, 32 digs), L. Burke (52 digs), K. Kleppe (40 digs), L. Garness (36 digs). The Cougars are 7-0 in the SEC, 13-5 overall. Spring Grove won “Flight 1,” going 2-0, beating Lewiston-Altura 2-0 (25-20, 25-23) and Westbrook-Walnut Grove 2-1 (25-23, 22-25, 15-13). Freshman setter Claire Sherburne picked up her 1,000th career assist. The Lions are 7-1 in the SEC, 10-7 overall.)

Class AA Showcase (Chatfield went 0-3 in pool play, losing to East Grand Forks 0-2 (19-25, 15-25), #6 in AA Southwest Christian 0-2 (13-25, 12-25), and Albany 1-2 (24-26, 25-21, 11-15). In “Flight 1,” Chatfield beat Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 2-1 (23-25, 25-22, 15-12) and Cannon Falls 2-0 (25-22, 25-18). Chatfield tourney leaders: C. Bicknese (45 kills, 43 digs), B. Tweten (42 assists, 10 aces), Z. Boyum (41 digs), Taylor Johnson (31 assists). The Gophers are 2-4 in the TRC, 7-10 overall.)

Byron Tourney (Rushford-Peterson went 2-3, beating Albert Lea 1-1 (19-25, 25-12) and Byron 1-1 (23-25, 25-17) while losing to Triton 0-2 (17-25, 16-25), Red Wing 1-1 (25-23, 24-26, 0-5), and Nova Classical Academy 1-1 (25-21, 20-25). R-P tourney leaders: A. Drinkall (50 digs, 7 aces), G. Ekern (66 assists, 24 digs), B. Schneider (20 kills, 39 digs), A. Skalet (34 digs), S. Rye (22 kills). The Trojans are 2-3 in the TRC, 8-9 overall.)
