Funeral Mass for David Hadland is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2026, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley. Burial will be in the St. Ignatius Cemetery.
David G. Hadland, age 86, of Spring Valley died Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Spring Valley Living.
He was born April 4, 1940, to Melvin and Norma (Mensing) Hadland in Spring Valley and attended and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1958. Following graduation Dave worked with his father at Hadland and Vreeman until entering the United States Army a couple years later. Dave served during the Vietnam era and was stationed in France. While in the service Dave started dating Mary Peterson and they were married on June 11, 1966, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley. To this union two sons were born, Eric and Mike. Following his time in the service Dave returned to the Spring Valley area and started working as the Fillmore County Assessor, a position he held for almost 40 years. During that time Dave also served as Chief of Police for the city of Ostrander, Minnesota for 35 years. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, watching football and NASCAR (especially Mark Martin), hunting and salmon fishing.
Dave is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Hadland of Spring Valley, sons Eric (Angie) Hadland of Ennis, Texas and Mike (Mona) Hadland of Spring Valley, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Lisa Hadland, Martina (Grant) Greenzweig, William (Val), Sam, Jack and Hannah Hadland; four great-grandchildren: Lily, Beau, Kattaleah and Mabel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marilyn; and a great-granddaughter, Mattison.
