Football: Cardinals Rip W-K 47-0, Improve to 2-0

LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle/Pacelli, for a second time in two weeks, rode senior quarterback Reid Hungerholt to a decisive win. The South-East’s most explosive player, Hungerholt ran for 192 yards on 22 carries and four touchdowns while also throwing for two more scores (9 of 19, 140 yards, 2 INTs) versus Wabasha-Kellogg. After a scoreless first quarter, the Cardinals led 14-0 at the half and then 34-0 at the end of three. L-O/L/P prevailed 47-0. Hunter Wollenburg (5-89, TD receiving), a 6’4” senior, was again Hungerholt’s top target. Banning Korfhage (45-yard TD reception) and Jaxon Learn (44-yard TD run) also found paydirt for the Cardinals. Learn added two interceptions defensively.  Through two weeks, Hungerholt has over 400 yards rushing and over 300 yards passing with 10 total TDs. The Cardinals (2-0, 2-0) share the South-East lead with AC/G-E (2-0, 2-0) and GM (2-0, 2-0) ahead of a week three rivalry matchup with the Superlarks. Kingsland (1-1, 1-1), M-C (1-1, 1-1), Lanesboro (1-1, 1-1), Spring Grove (1-1, 1-1), Faribault B.A. (0-0, 0-2), Houston (0-2, 0-2), and W-K (0-2, 0-2) round out the standings.
