(G) Caledonia/SG/Houston 5, Stewartville 4 (The Warriors opened with an exciting 5-4 win behind an extraordinary four-goal performance from eighth grader Jordan King. Kya Deck scored the winning goal with 20 minutes remaining. There were four assists, one each from Emily Baumann, Leah Privet, Kenra Tewes and Lillian Thies. In goal, Alexis Qualy was credited with nine saves. The Tigers scored first with an “own goal.” The Warriors went ahead 2-1 and then broke a tie to lead 3-2 at halftime. C/SG/H led 4-2 before the Tigers rallied to tie it for the third time at 4-4. “We kept using what we learned at practice,” said Thies, “holding the ball, maintaining possession.” Thies then assisted on Deck’s winning goal.
