Marsha Kay Winch

Marsha Kay Winch passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke and courageously navigating Alzheimer’s.

Born and raised in Wykoff, Minnesota, Marsha was the beloved eldest daughter of Marvin and Darlene Meyer. Growing up on the family farm with two sisters and two brothers, she enjoyed a childhood filled with love, hard work, and strong family values. As the oldest sibling, Marsha often took on the role of caregiver and big sister, offering wisdom, patience, compassion, and unwavering support to those she loved. Her siblings will deeply miss her gentle presence and steadfast love. Marsha attended a one-room country school before moving to St. John’s Lutheran School. She graduated from Wykoff High School in 1966. After high school, Marsha moved to Rochester to attend community college and begin a career in banking at First National Bank. She went on to enjoy a successful and fulfilling career, later working at Holt Title.

In 1968, Marsha met the love of her life, Roger Winch, when he came to help dig her car out of a snowbank. As family lore tells it, it was love at first sight. Roger and Marsha became engaged just one month later and were married nine months after that snowy first meeting. Together they built a beautiful life in Stewartville, founded on faith, love and devotion. Marsha and Roger were blessed with two children, Jeramie (Jennifer) Winch and Heidi (Stuart) Campbell. Marsha was truly the heart of her family. Her unwavering devotion to her husband and children was evident in everything she did. She made countless sacrifices to ensure her family came first, loved unconditionally, and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and support.

Being a grandmother was one of Marsha’s greatest joys. She adored her six grandchildren: Charlie Winch (Miah Mikel), Jared (Ellie) Campbell, Claudia Bell, Connor Campbell (Kelly Klees), Natalie Campbell, and Ellie Braaten. She could always be found cheering them on at sporting events, school activities, and special milestones. Whether through her cooking, baking, encouragement, or simply showing up, Marsha’s love for her grandchildren knew no bounds. Her example as a mother and grandmother helped shape the loving people they have become today.

Marsha was also a devoted friend who touched the lives of many. She was known for her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, and willingness to help others. Whether camping, traveling, cross-country skiing, or gathering with friends, Marsha cherished the friendships she built throughout her life. An active and energetic person, Marsha enjoyed softball, walking, exercising, x-skiing, cross-stitching, shopping, and keeping a beautiful home.

Faith was the foundation of Marsha’s life. As a dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church, she rarely missed a Sunday service, participated in women’s Bible studies, and volunteered countless hours in service to her church community. Her love for Jesus Christ guided her life and inspired those around her. Marsha will be forever missed as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, sister, and dear friend.

She is survived by her husband Roger Winch, children: Jeramie (Jennifer) Winch and Heidi (Stuart) Campbell, her grandchildren: Charlie Winch (Miah Mikel), Jared (Ellie) Campbell, Claudia Bell, Connor Campbell (Kelly Klees), Natalie Campbell, and Ellie Braaten; great-grandson Ky, siblings: Dennis (Carolyn) Meyer, Lynette (Thomas) Ramaker, Nancy (Randy) Christopherson, and Doug (Kim) Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Darlene Meyer, and her father-in-law, Leon Winch.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, with Rev. Tim Bowman officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church and onehour before the service on Thursday morning. Luncheon to follow. A private burial will be held on Friday, July 31, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
