At the 2026 Section 1A track and field meet, a total of 44 kids from RPH, Chatfield, LFCMC, GMLOKS, and Caledonia/Spring Grove qualified for state.  RPH’s girls were team champ, and nine Tro-Canes made state.  Chatfield (12), LFCMC (11), and GMLOKS (10) got double-digits kids to state. Two sprinters from C/SG made it.

Boldt’s Hat-Trick, Girls Team Title, Highlight RPH’s Exploits

It is RPH senior Aubry Boldt’s last dance.  Next year, the long and explosive athlete will take her skills to Division I Bellarmine University.  But for her final 1A Meet, Boldt was maybe the best gal competing (alongside Triton sprinter Averee Henslin).  For a second straight year, Boldt won three events; Long Jump, Triple Jump, and the 100-hurdles.  She broke her own (15.02) facility record in the hurdles (14.89), her own meet and facility record (37’6 ¼”) in the T-Jump (38’00 ¼”).  Her Long Jump (17’11”) was 11 inches above standard.  The reigning state champ in the T-Jump is now an 11-time state qualifier.  She’ll be joined by three other gal teammates.  Caitlin Bauer, took second in the 3,200 (11:15.23) and third in the 1,600 (5:13.84), making state in both, qualifying for the latter by standard.  She was one of seven girls to make state in the 1,600 and was only bettered by LC/H’s Juniper Kabat (11:08.72) in the 3,200.   Emily Helgemoe took second in the 800 (2:19.50) behind Olivia Yotter of Lake City (2:18.97), and senior Jorja Meyer took second in the Shot Put (37’3 ¼”) behind LC/H’s Brooklyn Mitchell (field record 43’0”), to each make state.  Meyer also took third in the Discus, teammate Abby Prinsen fourth.  The girls team as a whole (90) was meet champ over LC/H (87).  On the guys’ side, Chace Drazkowkski, Isaac Rasmussen, and the 4×800 all re-qualified for state. The 4×800 (Aaron Ploetz, Landon Dahl, Hunter Rislov, Rasmussen) was section champ (8:17.74) over Lake City (8:25.51). Dahl and Rislov are new members to the team.  Drazkowski made it again in the Shot Put (49’11”), again going by standard. He took fourth in both throw events.  Rasmussen again made it in the 1,600 (4:24.75), doing so by standard. He was one of four to make state in the event won by GMLOKS’ Tate Goergen (4:20.06). Also finishing high were Lucas Redalen (4th T-Jump, 5th L-Jump), Rislov (5th 200), Brennan Kunst (5th 3,200), Jero Kuss (5th Discus), Logan Kinstler (6th Shot) and Will Jewison (6th 3,200).

The Section 1A Meet boys Shot Put podium in littered with LFCMC and RPH guys. LFCMC’s Brody Niemeyer took second and RPH’s Chace Drazkowski took fourth to each re-qualify for state while LFCMC’s Joseph Otto (far left), RPH’s Logan Kinstler (sixth) and Jero Kuss (second from right) also finished highly.

Goergen’s Distance Glide Leads GMLOKS

At the 2025 Section 1A True Team meet, then GMLOKS sophomore Tate Goergen ran the 1,600-meters and beat esteemed cross country (2026 champ) and distance runner sensation Erik Semling of Cotter/HL. It was a testament to Goergen’s gliding running talent. He only ran the 800 individually at sections and state last year, winning titles in both.  In this year’s 1A meet, Goergen claimed both the 1,600 and 800-meter titles.  He (4:20.06) first topped Cotter/HL’’s Kellen Groth (4:20.91) in the 1,600, an event where Semling (the reigning champ) fell early.  Then Goergen galloped his way to second-straight 800-meter title (1:53.48) over Z-M’s Jacob Williamson (1:57.32), setting a field record.  Goergen ended the night with his 4×400 compadres (Hunter Hyde, Nathaniel Drees, Carter Glynn), who took second (3:24.39) narrowly behind Cotter/HL (3:24.03).   With Drees and Hyde as new members, said 4×400 re-qualified for state. Also making state for the GMLOKS boys was the 4×200 (Hyde, Drees, Bently Wiersma, Glynn), which took third (1:31.18) behind Cotter/HL (1:27.69) and St. Charles (1:30.40), but made state by standard.  Each GMLOKS relay team set a program record. Also finishing highly for the GMLOKS boys were Wiersma (4th Long Jump), Logan Drees (5th Triple Jump), Ethan Schammel (4th-tie High Jump) and Max Snitker (7th H-Jump).  On the girls’ side, the 4×100 (Brynlee Koenigs, Breeley Galle, Gracie Foster, Keira Stier) claimed the section title (50.22) over LC/H (50.31) and LFCMC (50.60) will all three qualifying for state. Galle also qualified in the 100-hurdles, doing so by standard, taking third (15.40) behind RP/H’s Aubry Boldt (14.89) and K-W’s Mali Quam (15.34).  The Southland senior is now a nine-time state qualifier.  Galle also took fourth in the 300-hurdles and the Triple Jump.  Also making it by standard was Kloe Meyer, who took third in the Shot Put (36’9”) behind LC/H’s Brooklyn Mitchell (43’0”) and RPH’s Jorja Meyer (37’3 ¼”). Other high GMLOKS gal finishers were 2025 state entrant Amelia McCabe (3rd Pole Vault), Avery Payne (4th P-Vault), Foster (4th 100-H), the 4×200 (5th > Koenigs, Foster, Brynna Nelson, Stier), and 4×800 (6th > Gretchen Hubka, Kiera Eickhoff, Emma Lewison, Naomi Warmka).

Peterson, Stoehr and Three Relays Qualify for Chatfield

Chatfield did not have a section champion but will send two individuals and three relays to state. One highlight was junior High Jumper Ross Stoehr clearing 6’2”, which bettered the state standard.  He took second to Triton’s Pierce Petersohn (6’6”) to make state. It is Stoehr’s first qualification. He also took fourth in the 100-hurdles, seventh in the 300-hurdles.  Savannah Peterson requalified for state in the 200-meters.  The junior (25.64) took second to Triton’s Averee Henslin (24.90) in the event.  Peterson was also the anchor for the girls 4×200 (Lexi Kivimagi, Lillie Stejskal, Adeline Schild) which took second (1:47.18) to Cotter/HL (1:47.12) to earn a berth.  The boys 4×100 (Lane Schmaltz, John Thieke, Brooks Lea, Logan Pearson) and 4×400 (Ezra Schild, Kash McBroom, Treyten Lanning, Schmaltz) each also qualified, doing so by standard

.  The 4×400 took third (3:29.10) behind Cotter/HL (3:24.03) and GMLOKS (3:24.39).  The 4×100 (43.90) took fourth and was one of five teams to make it in said event with Cotter/HL (42.45) winning the section title.  Other high Gopher finishers were the girls 4×400 (3rd > Kivimagi, Adelia Goldsmith, Schild, Stejskal), Schmaltz (7th P-Vault), the boys 4×800 (4th > Jacob Holets, Max Hoover, Ben Peters, Lanning), and girls 4×100 (6th > Addison Johnsrud, Stejskal, Schild, Peterson).

Standard is the Standard for LFCMC’s Qualifiers

LFCMC had six individuals and two relays qualify for state.  Five went by standard.  Not doing so were senior Brody Niemeyer, senior Elizabeth Clarke, and frosh Charlotte Ferrie.  Each took second. Niemeyer (51’8”), a state Shot qualifier last year, was only topped by PEM’s Carson Hynes (54’8 ½”) in this year’s event. He also took sixth in the discus. Clarke (9’8”) was runner-up to L/P’s Lauryn Hajek (10’2”) in the Pole Vault. She grabbed her state berth after taking third (9’2”) at sections last year. Ferrie (16’10 ½”) was only behind RPH sensation Aubry Boldt (17’11”) in the Long Jump. Making state by standard for LFCMC were the girls and boys 4×100’s, which each took third, Autumn Rakosnik, who took fourth in the 1,600, Krage, who took fourth in the Pole Vault, and Adrian Rindels, who took fifth in 100.  The girls 4×100 (50.60 > Ava Larson, Hannah Vaalemoen, Lillyan Kiehne, Ferrie) finished behind GMLOKS (50.22) and LC/H (50.31).  The boys 4×100 (43.88 > Parker Krage, Bridon Bahl, Quinci Kaase, Rindels) was one of five to make state in the event with Cotter/HL (42.45) taking first.  Krage (12’10”) was one of five to make it in the Pole Vault with PEM’s Myles Jones (13’4”) taking first. Rindels (11.12) was one of six to make it in the 100 with Triton’s Pierce Petersohn (10.76) the champ.  Finally, Rakosnik (5:17.53) was one of seven to qualify in the 1,600 with Cannon Falls’ Blake Johnson (5:07.41) winning the event.  Rakosnik has twice previously made state in the 3,200.   The boys 4×100, girls 4×100, and Rindels all set program records.  Also finishing highly for LFCMC were the girls 4×400 (5th > Olivia Rindels, Rakosnik, Kiehne, Vaalemoen), girls 4×200 (6th > Rindels, Fiona Horihan, Vaalmoen, Kiehne), Larson (7th T-Jump), Jospeh Otto (7th Shot), and Kyla Hellickson (7th High Jump).

Sprinters Hammell and Wait Head to State for Cal/SG

Making state for Caledonia/Spring Grove were a pair of sprinters who come in completely different sizes.  On the boys’ side, Coby Hammell (6’2” 215) took second (11.01) to Triton’s Pierce Petersohn (10.76) in the 100-meters to earn a berth.  On the girls’ side, 7th grader Finley Wait (maybe 100 pounds) took second (12.70) in the 100-meters, also to a Triton kid, Averee Henslin (12.13), to make state.  Henslin set a field and meet record.  Wait is the younger sister of multi-time male state track and field qualifier Fischer Wait.  Finley also took third in the 200 and sixth in the 400.  The Warriors only other high finisher was Jessica Stendel (6th Shot Put, 6th Discus).
