Houston softball’s 4-0 week ended with a crescendo. On a Saturday, the SEC leading #2 in Class A Hurricanes trailed second place Southland 5-3 thru six innings. Josh Swenson’s group then got three runs in the seventh. Caidence Frauenkron authored the go-ahead, two-run double, helping Houston to a big comeback 6-5 win. Houston out-hit Southland 14-4. Sisters Caidence (3-4, 2B, 3 RBI, R) and Claire Frauenkron (3-4, 2 R, 7 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, Win) led the way. Kylie Stinson (2-4, RBI, 2 R), Olivia Yohe (2-4, 2 RBI), Aspen Peterson (2-3), and Julia Swenson (1-4, 2B) helped. Prior, the ‘Canes topped Spring Grove 12-2 in six innings, Lyle/Pacelli 17-2 in five, and Triton 9-2. Versus the Lions, Claire F. was 4-for-4 (three 2B, 3 RBI, R) and collected the win (6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K). Yohe (1-2, R) recorded her 100th career hit. Swenson (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R), Caidence F. (1-2, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Peterson (1-4, 2 RBI, R), and Emily Baumann (2-3, 2 R) helped. Isabel Kaufmann (HR, 2 RBI, R) had all three hits for the Lions. Versus L/P, Rylee Boldt (4-5, 2B, RBI, 4 R), Swenson (4-5, 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R), and Baumann (4-4, 4 R) had four hits, Claire F. (3-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Peterson (3-4, 2B, RBI, R) three, Stinson (2-3, 3B, 3 RBI, 2), and Caidence F. (2-3, 2 RBI, R) two. Claire F. (5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K) got the win. Versus the Cobras, Peterson (2-3, R) drove in three. Swenson (3-3, 3B, 2 RBI, R) and Boldt (3-3, 2 R) had three hits. Yohe (2-3, 2B, R), Caidence F. (2-4, 2B, 3B, RBI), (Stinson 1-2, 2B, R), Hailey Stark (1-2, R), and Claire F. (7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, Win) also did work. Houston (10-0 SEC, 18-0 overall) has clinched a share of the SEC title over Southland (7-2, 12-2).
