On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Ardis LeAnn Copeman, age 89, of Spring Valley, was welcomed into Heaven, where she was reunited with the love of her life, Roger, and her beloved sons Scott and Todd.
Ardis was born on April 1, 1937, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Oscar and Laura Olson. She was a twin, sharing a special lifelong bond with her brother Arden LeRoy.
On October 24, 1957, Ardis married Roger Copeman at the Little Brown Church, beginning a beautiful journey together that lasted 42 years until Roger’s passing in 1998. Their love story began at a roller rink in Spring Valley, where Roger, dressed in his Navy uniform, swept Ardis off her feet.
Throughout their marriage, Ardis and Roger lived in several places, including Glenview, Ill.; Oahu, Hawaii; San Jose and Sacramento, Calif., before returning to Spring Valley to make their forever home.
Ardis was preceded in death by her husband Roger, her sons Scott and Todd, and several of her siblings.
She is survived by her children Kim (Scott) and Jeffrey (Karen), along with her cherished grandchildren Erin, Jonathan, Christopher, Carrie, Elizabeth, Ethan, Maddie and Jessica. Her legacy continues through her eight great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Ardis had eight siblings: Orville, Marlin, Arden, Arthur, JoAnn, Jerry, Janice and Nancy.
She dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Ardis worked as a nanny in Rochester, spent time at St. Marys, and devoted herself fully to her role as a wife and mother. For 25 years, she lovingly ran “Ardie’s Care-A-Lot” daycare, where she touched the lives of countless children and families.
Ardis will be remembered for her warm heart and generous spirit. Her home was always open, and everyone who walked through her door was welcomed with kindness and love. She created a space where people felt safe, cared for, and truly at home.
Her life was one of quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and unwavering compassion. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral service for Ardis will be at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, with Pastor Mark Woodward officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the start of the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Spring Valley Cemetery.
