Carole Granger Wrubel, age 81, of Lanesboro, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. She was born in Minneapolis, Minn., to Benjamin and Eleanor (Horihan) Granger.
Carole devoted her life to serving others and making a difference in her community. After graduating with a B.A. in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, she volunteered to serve in VISTA in New York, which subsequently lead to employment as a social worker there, in Westchester County. But the pull of her Minnesota roots was strong and she returned home and found employment in social services with Rice County. She later transitioned to a role at Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, where she worked helping improve the lives of children and their families. Wanting to be near her family and live in the town she loved, she moved to Lanesboro and continued to live a life of service as a Visiting Angel, helping those who were housebound.
She was an avid reader, especially historical fiction, and enjoyed going to the library. Carole worshipped at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lanesboro, and appreciated the fellowship she found there.
Carole is survived by her son Jeremy (Kim), and grandson, Josh, of NY, her dear brother Robert (Kat) Granger of AZ, and her loving niece, nephews and cousins across the country. She was predeceased by her siblings Patricia Ogren, Sister Eleanor Granger, and James Granger.
In accordance with her wishes, Carole was cremated, interred at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, and no funeral was held.
