Track and Field: GMLOKS Girls Win at PEM, Goergen Sets Record

In their first outdoor meet of the year in Elgin, GMLOKS girls team and male athlete Tate Goergen stood out. The gals (192) topped PEM (140), D-E (75), Zumbrota-Mazeppa (72), RACE (48), and Lyle/Pacelli (24) for the team title. Breeley Galle led the way with a pair of individual first places (100-hurdles > 16.31; 300-hurdles > 49.44) and a third place (Triple Jump). Brynlee Koenigs had a first (100 > 13.58) and a second (300-hurdles). Emma Lewison (800 > 2:39.41), Kaylie Betts (3,200 > 14:01.95), Kloe Meyer (Shot Put > 33’5”), Caisa Kolling (Discus > 101’5”), and Amelia McCabe (Pole Vault > 9’6”) also took first. Throwers Kolling (Shot Put) and Meyer (Discus) added third and fourth places. Relay-wise, the 4×100 (54.22 > Lydia Redman, Koenigs, McCabe, Brynna Nelson) and 4×400 (4:29.56 > Galle, Lewison, Rylee Holst, Kiera Eickhoff) each took first while the 4×800 (Reeyin Lanning, Anna Imm, Betts, Eickhoff) took second. Lanning (1,600) added an individual second while Holst added a third place (400). The GMLOKS guys (102) took second to PEM (145.5) ahead of Z-M (96.5), D-E (95), L/P (76), and RACE (41). Fresh off competing for Southland at state basketball (and making All-Tourney Team), junior Tate Goergen won the 400 (49.79) and 800-meter races (2:00.79). He set the GMLOKS 400-meter record, breaking that formerly held by James Howard from 2022. The guys 4×200 (1:38.65 > Nathaniel Drees, Bently Wiersma, Michael Johnson, Max Snitker) also took first. Wiersma added three individual top five finishes (2nd Long Jump, 4th 100, 4th Triple Jump), Drees (5th 100, 4th 200) two individual top five placings. Snitker (High Jump) added an individual second place. Calum Sween (3rd Shot Put, 4th Discus) and Logan Drees (3rd Long Jump, 3rd Triple Jump) each had two top five field event finishes while Brede Nelsen (Pole Vault) took third.

Track and Field (3/31) 

St. Charles “Fingers Crossed” Meet (St. Charles’ girls (168.3) topped RPH (102.4), La Crescent/Hokah (100), Chatfield (61.4), Caledonia/Spring Grove (35.5), and Triton (18.4). SC’s guys (184) topped Chatfield (124), Triton (95), RPH (78), LC/H (32), and C/SG (10). For RPH’s girls, Aubry Boldt had three first places (100-hurdles > 15.41; Long Jump > 15’9 ½”; Triple Jump > 36’2”) to lead the way. Jorja Meyer took first (Discus > 109’4”) and second (Shot Put). Emilee Peterson (High Jump > 4’10”) also took first. Emily Helgemoe (800) and Abby Prinsen (Discus) took second. Kendall O’Donnell (400) took third. For Chatfield’s girls, the 4×400 (4:27.95 > Sophia Goldsmith, Addison Johnsrud, Lexi Kivimagi, Lillie Stejskal) took first. Kivimagi (1,600), Stejskal (300-hurdles), Melody Ward (Pole Vault*), and the 4×200 (S-Goldsmith, Stejskal, Johnsrud, Savannah Peterson) took second. *Denotes of three competitors. For C/SG’s girls, Finley Wait (100 > 13.24; 200 > 27.30) had two first place finishes. Jessica Stendel (Discus) took third. For Chatfield’s boys, Ben Peeters (3,200 > 10:58.23), Lane Schmaltz (Pole Vault > 11’6”), the 4×200 (1:39.06 > Simon Erding, Schmaltz, Kash McBroom, Logan Pearson), and 4×400 (3:40.93 > Brandt McBroom, K-McBroom, Pearson, Schmaltz) took first. A second 4×200 (Brooks Lea, Brandt McBroom, Ezra Schild, Cooper Halloran) took second. Ross Stoehr had two seconds (300-hurdles, Triple Jump) and two third places (110-hurdles, High Jump – tie). K-McBroom (400) added a second place. Schmaltz (100) and Lea (Long Jump) each added third places. Maddex Lanning (800) took third. For RPH’s boys, Chace Drazkowski (Shot Put > 53’7 ½”; Discus > 143’7”) swept first in the throws. Brennan Kunst took first (1,600 > 4:41.16) and second (800). The 4×100 (Holden Lee, Lucas Redalen, Cole Thompson, Caden Mattson) took second. For C/SG’s boys, Noah Heppner (Shot) took third. Triton’s Pierce Petersohn notably won the 100 (11.58), 200 (23.26), 400 (49.76), and High Jump (6’4”). Said results are based off what was submitted, but the event had some timing/scoring errors.)
