Lanesboro volleyball continued its excellent season. Julie Schreiber’s group rode it three-headed hitting attack to two more conference wins. The Burros first took out Houston in a tough three-set battle, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20. Kaci Ruen (12 kills, 6 digs), Jessie Schreiber (11 kills, 7 digs), and Sydney Taylor (7 kills, 12 digs, 14-14 serving) notched 30 of Lanesboro’s 35 kills. Ella Cambern (24 assists, 6 digs, 17-18 serving) and Malia Tessum (19 digs) did the setting and passing. Kendall Stettler added 9 digs. Emma Geiwitz (10 kills, 2 ½ blks), Lilly Carr (15 assists, 8 digs, 3 aces), Becca Rostad (10 digs, 3 aces), and Sydney Torgerson (4 kills) led the Hurricanes. Lanesboro then took out Randolph also 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 26-24), a Saturday afternoon contest. The Rockets (4-3) three previous losses were to Kingsland (five sets) and twice to M-C. Schreiber (season-high 16 kills), Ruen (14 kills, 11 digs, 3 blks), and Taylor (11 kills, 11 digs) all got to double-digit kills. It is the first time a “Journal 10” squad has had three gals do so this year. The trio had all but one of Lanesboro’s kills. Cambern (36 assists, 12 digs, 16-17 serving), Tessum (27 digs), and Stettler (9 digs, 18-18 serving, 4 aces) helped the cause. The Burros are now 8-1. Their only loss is to #4 in Class A Mabel-Canton. Their last seven wins have all been sweeps.
