Celebrate the rich life of Norman Borlaug, the man who saved a billion lives, at the Norman Borlaug Harvest Fest in Cresco, Iowa, Friday, August 26 through Sunday, August 28.

Join fellow ag enthusiasts on Saturday for tours of the Borlaug family farm. Wander the farm sites searching for over 10 geocaches as you explore the 1915 restored barn, country schoolhouse, and the fields Norm worked in as a boy.

There are plenty of events in Cresco to keep visitors busy. The antique tractor parade kicks off the festivities on Thursday, August 25. Other activities include the Harvest Fest parade, a pub crawl, music & moonlight golf at the Cresco Country Club, and an ice cream social, a midwestern tradition.

Cresco Chamber of Commerce Tourism Director Spiff Slifka proudly recommends, “We have a steak cook-off on both Saturday and Sunday in Beadle Park and Veterans’ Steak Dinner at the VFW Hall.”

Visit the historic Kellow House was built in 1880 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The two-story red brick house is an excellent example of a Second Empire style. It now is home to a museum and a resource center for the Howard County Historical Society.
