Fillmore County Journal - Peter "Pete" Bissen Obituary

Peter D. Bissen, age 59, of Greenleafton, Minn., died on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Greenleafton Reformed Church with Pastor Roger Lokker officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 13.  Burial will be in Greenleafton Cemetery.  Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home Preston, Minn., is assisting the family.

Peter Donald “Pete” Bissen was born on September, 4, 1959, in Rose Creek, Minn., son of Donald and Georgia (Langmo) Bissen.  He was a 1978 graduate of Southland High School.  Pete furthered his education and graduated from community college from Austin, Minn., as a tool and die machinist.  On October 6, 1995, Pete married Annie-Laurie Knowles at the Christ Episcopal Church in Austin, Minn.

Pete was a longtime volunteer EMT for the Preston ambulance.  He worked at Preston Iron Works for 19 years, Valley Design three years, EZ Fab in Chatfield for three years, and was presently working at Custom Iron in Zumbrota.

He was very active around the community.  Pete coached High School Jr. League Bowling, Boy Scout Leader, and volunteered at Greenleafton Reformed Church.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and collecting model trains.  Pete was a huge sports fan.  He cheered for Fillmore Central High School, Minnesota Vikings and Twins.

Peter is survived by his wife Annie-Laurie Bissen of Greenleafton, Minn.; sons Jay and Joshua Bissen of Greenleafton, Minn.; his mother Georgia Bissen of Winona, Minn., sister Theresa Santema of Stewartville, Minn., and brother Paul Bissen of Winona, Minn.; mother-in-law Ann J. Knowles of Mankato, Minn., brothers-in-law Christopher (Melissa Donley) Knowles of Lakeville, Minn., Patrick (Danielle) Knowles of Scottsdale, Ariz., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Donald Bissen, aunt Frances, and father-in-law William Knowles.
