At the annual Association of Community Publishers conference, held in Mobile, Ala., the Fillmore County Journal was recognized with nine awards.

- Best Front Page-Cover (Special Section) – First Place
- Best Self Promotion (Community Service) – Second Place
- Best Self Promotion (Awards) – Third Place
- Best Educational Column (Written to Inform or Educate) – Third Place
- Best Digital or Web (Web or Social Media) – Third Place
- Best Grocery & Liquor (Color) – Third Place
- Best Original Photography (In Advertising or Editorial) – Third Place
- Best General Excellence – Third Place
The team at the newspaper is honored to be recognized with these awards. To earn third place among so many high quality prestigious publication throughout the United States gives us a sense of accomplishment. And, while winning these awards feels good, we tremendously appreciate the daily feedback via phone calls, e-mails, cards of thanks, and in-person visits from our readers.
Over the past eight years, the team at the Fillmore County Journal has earned more than 270 awards from Minnesota Newspaper Association, Midwest Free Community Publishers, and Association of Community Publishers in the areas of editorial, advertising excellence and online presence.
