To the Editor,
I come down to see my parents who live in Harmony about once a month and I stay for a few days. I just want to voice my concerns about the lack of compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines. In a town with such a large population of elderly citizens, I was shocked to be the only person in town wearing a mask. Not only were people not wearing masks, the businesses, with the exception of Sterling Pharmacy (Thank you!), weren’t either! Kwik Trip and Harmony Foods didn’t even have a Plexiglas shield at the check-out counters. The citizens of Harmony should be very concerned about this. Should (or when) this virus hit Harmony it would spread and wipe the town out in weeks. Please be considerate of your fellow townspeople. Wear masks as though you are non-symptomatic but that you carry the virus. That will help protect your community. Thank you to the businesses and people who were wearing masks that I didn’t witness.

Editor’s Note: All three of the grocery stores, Harmony Foods, Preston Foods, and Rushford Foods have had plexiglass shields at the checkout counters for well over a month. Kwik Trip in Harmony, Minn., currently does not have shields in place.

I have to reply to this one again. Sandy Williams wants everyone to wear masks but she has been traveling monthly from her home northwest of the Cities to visit her (elderly?) parents for a few days at a time? Haven’t we been told to stay home? Isn’t Sandy putting her parents at risk? And Harmony?

I have also witnessed widespread lack of masking and social distancing. I feel the CDC missed the chance to curb this by not mandating all wear masks and practice social distancing while in public places. I am a retired RN and know the importance of masking to prevent the spread of illness. Hand washing is very important, however it isn’t effective if a person coughs or sneezes into their hand and then proceeds to touch a door knob or grocery cart handle. They have now exposed others to their illness. You may be asymptomatic, but can be contagious and I am not certain people are getting that! Menards has it right. No mask…..no entering their stores! I have an autoimmune disease and get frustrated when I see so many people not masked or even attempting to keep their distance. Love they neighbor……WEAR a mask!!!!!!
Bussinesses should be required to have employees masked as well as customers.

I would think that Harmony is at more of a risk from people coming in from outside of the area for a few days a month than it is from people in stores not wearing masks. Not that I think people shouldn’t wear masks. Also, where are any towns/cities getting wiped out? What news channel am I missing?
