Volunteer

The success of our rural communities relies heavily on volunteers.

There are certain people who volunteer their time to help others on a regular basis, and they have done so for many years. They provide their time and talents for the betterment of their community.

Maybe they volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Food Shelf, Lions or Kiwanis Club, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, 4-H, Chamber of Commerce, VFW or American Legion, a historical society, their church, or as an emergency responder. Or, maybe they volunteer for multiple organizations.

April is a month dedicated to volunteerism.
We want to make sure our volunteers are recognized for their efforts, so we will be publishing a section dedicated to volunteers on Monday, April 7, 2025.

In this section, we will recognize the 2025 Volunteer of the Year. And, in their honor, the Fillmore County Journal will donate $250 to an organization of their choice. We will also recognize other volunteers and highlight volunteer organizations and how our readers can get involved. There are so many selfless volunteers, but organizations can always use more help.

The deadline for nomination submissions is March 14, 2025.

You may submit the following online form, or else you can download the form and submit by mail or in person to the Fillmore County Journal office. Mail to: PO Box 496, Preston, MN 55965 – Drop off at 136 St. Anthony Street S. in Preston.
