#4 Caledonia Runs Win Streak to Eight
Coming off a 6-4 start to the year, Caledonia volleyball has been on a tear and it continued with a two-win week. The Warriors (4-2, 12-4) and Fillmore Central (4-1, 8-9) usually play tight matches. But this year marked the first since 2019 the match was not a 3-1 affair. Coming off the Class AA Showcase title, Dan Reinhart’s gals were in control. Warrior hitters Liv Myhre and Sienna Augedahl were dominant. The 6’2” Myhre had nine kills (unofficially) in game two including seven in Caledonia’s first 13 points. The 6’0” Augedahl had seven kills (unofficially) in game three. FC stayed closest in set three, as the game was tied at 17. But Augedahl had a handful of kills down the stretch and the Warriors took the game. They swept FC 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21). Myhre (19 kills, 3 ace blks), S-Augedahl (14 kills), and Avery Augedahl (36 assists, 7 digs) did big work. Lauren Goetzinger (9 digs) and Elsa Blum (7 kills, 7 digs, 18-19 serving, 2 aces) were key help. Ella Dahly (7 kills, 6 digs), Kyla Hellickson (5 kills, 7 digs), Izzy Nagel (6 kills), Hannah Vaalemoen (13 assists, 5 digs), Aubrey Daniels (12 assists), Annika Mensink (5 kills), and Kaitlyn Scheevel (4 kills, 3 total blks) did work for FC. The Warriors then hosted and downed Decorah also by sweep (25-15, 25-16, 25-21). Myhre continued to slam down points at a high rate (20 kills, .418 hitting, 9-9 serving, 4 aces). S-Augedahl (10 kills, 6 digs), A-Augedahl (26 assists), Blum (4 kills, 6 digs), Aubrie Klug (4 kills, 11 digs), and Goetzinger (9 digs) helped. Paizley Lange was 20 of 20 serving with 4 aces plus 6 digs. Winners of eight straight, the #4-ranked Warriors (5-2, 14-4) join, Lewiston-Altura (5-2, 12-6), Cotter (4-2, 11-3), D-E (4-2, 8-7) and FC (4-2, 8-11) as the two loss teams in the TRC. Chatfield (7-0, 15-3) leads the conference.
#2 Gophers Down W-K and D-E, Stay TRC Perfect
Three Rivers Conference volleyball leader Chatfield posted two more league wins to expand their edge in the conference. Kristi Rindels’ group first swept Wabasha-Kellogg 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-13). Junior hitter Trindy Barkeim had a huge night with 19 kills, 7 digs, and 5 aces on 17 of 18 serving. Harper Goldsmith (32 assists, 11 digs), Jaelyn LaPlante (13 kills), Cora Bicknese (6 kills, 13 digs), and Hannah Tweten (7 digs, 3 aces) kept the Gopher machine rolling. Bicknese, a sophomore outside hitter and former two-year starting libero, recorded her 1,000th career dig in the match. The Gophers (6-0, 14-3) then trekked to Eyota for a match with D-E (4-1, 8-6), the only team in the TRC with just one loss. It was all Chatfield in a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-17, 25-4). Goldsmith (3 kills, 29 assists, 7 digs, 12-12 serving, 3 aces) led the way, helped by the LaPlante (13 kills, 5 digs), Barkeim (8 kills, 5 digs, 3 aces), Bicknese (8 kills, 22-22 serving, 4 aces), and Tweten (10 digs) foursome. D-E’s serve receive struggled as the Gophers had 13 aces. Outside of Chatfield (7-0, 15-3) on top by two games, the TRC is muddled with Lewiston-Altura (5-2, 12-6), Caledonia (5-2, 14-4), Cotter (4-2, 11-3), D-E (4-2, 8-7), and Fillmore Central (4-2, 8-11) all having two losses. Chatfield has beaten all five teams and their final three TRC contests are versus teams in the bottom five of the standings. The Gophers are one win away from clinching a share of the TRC.
Larks Drub Rebels to Share West Lead
Southland (6-2, 6-2) entered the match leading the SEC-West over Grand Meadow (5-3, 8-0). But the perennial West power Larks volleyed through the Rebels in rather quick fashion in a battle of divisional first and second place teams. The first and third sets had some ties early, but GM pulled away at the end of each. A 12-11 Lark lead in game one turned into a 25-15 win, as they scored 13 of the final 17 points. A 10-10 match in game three turned into another 25-15 win, as GM scored 15 of final 20 points. Kendall Jack had an eight-point service session. And Matt Rosaaen’s group dominated game two by a 25-9 final. The Larks thus swept the Rebels 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-15), sweeping the season series. Lauren Queensland had a team-best 11 kills plus 15 digs. She had six kills (unofficially) in game two. Haylie Paul added 9 kills. Hallie Hendrickson (3 kills, 30 assists, 6 digs) set the table with Gracie Foster (5 kills, 14 digs), Jack (4 kills, 5 digs, 16-17 serving, 2 aces), and Cheynne Bakken (12 digs) also doing work. Maren Wehrenberg (15 assists), Abby Sorgatz (18 digs), and Breeley Galle (5 kills) led Southland. The Larks (6-3, 9-9) and Rebels (6-3, 6-3) are now tied atop the SEC West. LeRoy-0strander (5-4, 8-9) is in third place.

Rochester-Century Tourney (Spring Grove placed seventh of 12 teams at the National Volleyball Center Invite in Rochester with all matches against considerably larger schools. In pool play the Class A Lions fell to Class AAA Mankato West 2-0 (25-27, 18-25) and then defeated AAA Worthington 2-0 (25-21, 25-23) before losing two close sets to tourney champion River Falls 0-2 (22-25, 22-25). SG then advanced into and won the championship of the Bronze Division with wins over AAAA Sartell-St. Stephen 2-0 (27-25, 25-21) and AAAA Owatonna 2- 1 (25-19, 13-25, 15-7). Lions > 9-1, 15-5)
Decorah Tourney (Kingsland went 2-3, beating MFL-Mar Mac 2-1 (11-21, 21-17, 15-11) and Postville 2-0 (21-17, 21-15) while losing to Central Elkader 0-2 (15-21, 10-21), Decorah 0-2 (14-21, 9-21), and South Winn 0-2 (10-21, 16-21).
