Up Up and Away!

Plan to attend the annual Caledonia Balloon Rally from October 18-20 where ten hot air balloons are scheduled to launch from the field behind the Caledonia Middle School/High School at 825 N. Warrior Drive.

The Caledonia Balloon Rally planning committee is excited to invite everyone to this year’s event, which has been a beloved tradition in Caledonia since 1990. The balloon committee would like to extend a special thanks to area businesses for sponsoring a balloon, emphasizing that this unique October event brings joy to the entire community. They also remind attendees that balloon flights are highly weather-dependent, and safety as a top priority. Whether balloons fly or not is at the pilot’s discretion, so keep a watchful eye on the Caledonia Balloon Rally Facebook page for updates.

Tim Cloyd returns as this year’s balloon meister. Cloyd and his wife, Elise, hail from Runnells, Iowa. Cloyd oversees the licensed pilots and will determine whether the weather conditions are suitable for flying.

As the event approaches, stay tuned to the event’s Facebook page for daily updates. Please remember that the safety of the pilots, their crews, and the riders remains paramount, and if conditions are unsafe, flights will be postponed or canceled. Facebook will be updated as soon as the committee knows if flights are a go or not. Flights are tentatively scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with morning flights at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  Safety will always come first, please watch our Facebook for “It’s a go!” Or “No Flight” posts.
