Critical comments about Mr. Trump from a well known supporter may surprise many of you. So be it; I have to be honest as I evaluate the first few months of his administration. Granted, there has been success and quite a few promises kept.
- The borders are now operating properly, no special legislation needed. Just a new POTUS.
- Federal tax on overtime pay eliminated.
- Deportations of illegals, many of them violent criminals, are proceeding, although not yet as many as were deported under Mr. Obama.
- Employment is at record highs, and tax rates including the 12% bracket are safe for now.
- Billions in wasteful spending has been identified and eliminated with prospects of much more. Rampant fraud is now being rooted out and prosecuted despite stubborn resistance from officials in blue states like Minnesota.
- Deaths from illegal drugs are down drastically. Drug dealers, violent cartel and gang members, and human traffickers are being hunted down and eliminated. Thousands of young people, especially girls, have been rescued from slavery and degradation.
- The travesty of boys in girls sports is being eliminated despite intransigence from blue states.
- Persecution of Christians and vandalism of churches so rampant under the Biden administration is no longer tolerated.
- For 50 years American Presidents fumed and blustered about the mideast bully Iran and took no action except to kick the can down the road. Trump is willing to deal with the problem.
Those are a few accomplishments, but now let’s discuss how Mr. Trump is a miserable disappointment to a major segment of his constituents. These folks share a belief and expectation that Mr. Trump will behave in the way they predicted. They are far out on a limb having made wild-eyed predictions, spent millions on demonstrations all across the world, telling everyone who would listen that Trump is an Authoritarian Dictator/ King and an existential threat to Democracy. And yet despite all their investment of time and treasure, Mr. Trump stubbornly refuses to behave as they assert!
Let’s face it. As a King, Tyrant, or Authoritarian Dictator, Trump is an abject flop. A loser. A flat out, non performing failure.
What Tyrant would defend parental rights, or the right of honest people to keep and bear arms?
What Dictator would allow unlimited protests where thousands gather to object to his administration?
What King would encourage the return of local and parental control of the education system?
Tyrants always want control of education, it’s the most important aspect of Despotism. Not Trump.
What true Despot would defend the right to worship as we wish and to proclaim our faith and even pray in public? What King would encourage free speech and allow dissenting ideas on social media?
The most disappointing aspect of all is Mr. Trump had four years between terms to learn all about running a Dictatorship; all he had to do was watch the Biden Administration lock us down during COVID, persecute Christians, lock up old people for praying outside abortion clinics,
release alien and other criminals with no bail, and pay social media giants to censor any speech or ideas they didn’t like. He had the perfect example, but did not seem to learn a thing!
As a King and Authoritarian Dictator, Trump has failed several million people, defying their predictions and making their protests look like sniveling, childlike temper tantrums. As for me and many millions of other Christian Nationalists who love America, we think he is doing just fine.

Well stated Jeff. As for me, I don’t expect this President to be perfect and make no mistakes…that wouldn’t be human. It would mean we’re being fed a lot of propaganda and lies. Love or hate this President, it can’t be denied he refuses to hide behind a teleprompter that tells him what to say and exposes himself from all cardinal directions.

Jeff’s problem with Donald Trump appears to be that he’s not enough of a dictator. How ironic when he’s trying argue against the idea of Trump as a chaotic and disordered authoritarian, one who often behaves like he thinks he’s a law unto himself.
Donald Trump is a living example of how presidents are not supposed to behave and speak. He has been aided and abetted by a supine Republican Party that appears to hate democracy and justice for all. The November elections cannot come soon enough.

Why don’t you Lefties like to deal in facts and actual topics? Because you know very well you cannot. Every time you try you get clobbered like John Szuch did regarding criminal deportations You people got nothing!
How about we try this; Try racking your brain and write in with a list of actual actions and behaviors you disagree with. You know, the way adults do, dealing with history, facts, laws, things like that .
Then we can have an actual discussion.
Or would you rather throw out baseless insults you parrot from your lying, spineless heros in the mainstream media?
Too bad you can’t think for yourself. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Jeff, your reply is a perfect example of why it’s tragically a waste of time to engage with those who have gone so far down the rabbit hole of the Trump cult that discussion and sensibly evaluating the evidence are meaningless.
You suggest that I “can’t think for myself”? In my forty years of teaching history, that’s exactly what I encouraged my students to do and continue to do for myself by reading a variety of opinions and sources. If we come to different conclusions from our reading, that’s OK and completely “normal”. But in my humble opinion, you are wrong and history will objectively regard the “Trump post-truth era” to be a dark and dangerous period.

Our education system has been circling the drain for 40 years. You have undoubtably been a key part of that.
Mr. Ellis. Think ” Topics” and ” Specifics” . Very essential to have those as a basis for civil debate or discussion. But of course that is a path you refuse to take because you cannot prevail.

Using you 16% number ( which is actually 4 points low) and the fact that 7000,000 have been deported, we see that adds up to 112,000 violent felons deported, not including those guilty of theft, car jacking, drunk driving, and other vehicle operation offenses.
1,900,000 illegals have self deported. How many of those are violent criminals? Since you are a research expert, please check that out and let us know.
Now I don’t know where you went to school, but 112,000 plus thousands more who scrammed to avoid arrest by ice adds up to a LOT of violent dangerous criminals gone from America. Many thousands.

My point is that the administration repeatedly says they are targeting the worst of the worst. I know you find this hard to believe, but nobody wants violent criminals to stay here. But that’s not who they are targeting. they are targeting Everyone. They have deported purple heart veterans, they have deported military spouses with no criminal record. Why are so many people ok with this? The bottom line is that they are not doing what they are saying they are doing. They are lying. And you guys are eating it up.

This is just beyond ignorant. Pretty much every one of these points can be rebutted with raw data, I’ll just give you one:
“Deportations of illegals, many of them violent criminals”. According to DHS data released in january, less that 16% of all people detained in Trump’s first year of his second term had been charged with a violent crime. Over 70% had no criminal record. That does not really equate to “many”. The administration has repeatedly stated they are only going after the worst of the worst. That doesn’t sound like what actually happened. Instead it’s just more lies and spin.
This country has become a siphon. A siphon that funnels money to the rich and doesn’t care at all about the regular folks.

Women don’t want to go to the woods with men because they are violent and dangerous… many of them in that instance is about 1-5%.
I’m going to say many is a descriptive word where context matters.
I’m going to say as a population the percent demonstrated counts as many.

President Trump and his admin have been working hard to solve wars around the world. Conflicts improved or stopped include India/Pakistan, Congo/Rawanda, Cambodia/ Thailand, Serbia / Kosovo , Egypt/ Ethiopia.
Work continues on Ukraine and Iran unlike the Biden regime who accomplished exactly nothing.
As a practicng Catholic I owe allegiance to Pope Leo on matters of doctrine but it looks to me like the score is Team Trump 6 , Team Pope Leo 0 when it come to stopping wars and saving lives.
So your condition of embarrassment is well deserved when we consider the items you stand for plus the fact that your side has presided over an alarming drop in educational achievement, the destruction of Minneapolis, BILLIONS in fraud and waste, and crime spiraling out of control.

I was gonna let it slide but I just can’t so here we go. The current POTUS has successfully gotten the leftwing, pro-choice people to albeit through FAKE OUTRAGE stand and defend the Pope. The Pope being the Supreme Leader of the defense of all human life. That’s one heck of a feat, a feat no other human or entity has done.

@Wendy, do you belong to the ELCA? It’s always interesting to hear ELCA members harping about leading people astray when the ELCA ordains openly gay Bishops and Pastors who are in same sex marriages , supports abortion up to birth, hosts trans sex shows, etc
