GMLOKS is State True Team Runner-Up, LFCMC Takes 8th

For a third straight year, GMLOKS girls track and field is the state True Team runner-up.  For the second straight year, they do so by a very narrow margin, and this year against the team they topped at sections.  Aaron Thauwald’s group (538) took second to 1A rival Cotter/Hope Lutheran (543.5) with Luverne (485.5) taking third.  GMLOKS beat Cotter/HL at sections by four points (1160.5 to 1156.5).  The last two years they had been state runner-up to Luverne, last year 521 to 519.5.  GMLOKS was back-to-back state champion in 2021 and 2022.  It is thus their fifth straight top two finish at state True Team.  Leading the way was a girl who has been a part of all of that, senior Chantle Reiland.  She won three events (100 > 12.18; 200 > 25.54; Long Jump > 17’5”) while finishing top 7 four times (7th 400).  Reiland set the GMLOKS record in the Long Jump.   Over the five years, she has eight total first places at True Team state, four more second places, and 17 total top 10s.   Contributing with three top 10 finishes were Breeley Galle (2nd Triple Jump, 3rd 100-hurdles, 8th 300-hurdles) and Gracie Foster (3rd T-Jump, 6th 100-H, 6th 300-H).  Naomi Warmka (8th 800, 8th 1,600) had two top 10s.  Caisa Kolling (3rd Discus), Lauren Queensland (5th High Jump), Neveah Shaw (9th H-Jump), and Kloe Meyer (9th Shot Put) also finished top 10.  The 4×200 (4th > Lydia Redman, Brynna Nelson, Kiera Eickhoff, Keira Stier) and 4×800 (5th > Anna Imm, Sadie Bustad, Emma Lewison, Queensland) finished top five.  LFCMC’s girls, in their 8th straight (competed) state True team meet, took 8th (421.5) of 12 total teams.  Autumn Rakosnik (2nd 1,600, 8th-tie P-Vault, 10th 800) had three top 10 finishes to lead Lori Anderson’s group.  Charlotte Ferrie (3rd L-Jump, 8th 100) and Kinley Soiney (6th 400, 9th 100) each had two top 10s.  Elizabeth Clarke took third in the Pole Vault.  Lillyan Kiehne (6th 1,600), Maddie Zwart (7th 800), Grace Kingsley (7th 3,200), Charity Kingsley (10th 3,200), and Kyla Hellickson (10th H-Jump) also finished top 10.  The 4×800 (Zwart, Ella Halverson, Hellickson, Sahara Morken) took third, while the 4×400 (Halverson, Morken, Hannah Vaalemoen, Kiehne) took fifth. LFCMC’s highest gals finish in the eight-year run was third place in 2021.
