Town Line Road Reconstruction Approved by Eitzen Council

April 20, 2026 by Charlene Corson Selbee Leave a Comment

The Eitzen City Council met in a regular session on April 14 and approved a quote from Dunn Blacktop for $106,965.50 to completely redo Town Line Road in Eitzen this summer.

Town Line Road (Highway 76 to Portland Ave.) is scheduled for June and will be completed in time for the town’s annual 4th of July celebration.

Mayor Jeff Adamson called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. Other council members, Doug Meyer, Mitch Lange and Mitch Luttchens were present as well. Councilmember Emily Burrichter was absent. City staff attending were City Clerk Steve Schuldt and City Maintenance Supervisor Darryl Meyer.

The council approved the minutes from the March 10 regular city council meeting with one correction. The council also reviewed and approved the city’s financial statements. Supervisor Meyer will contact MiEnergy about attaching a limiter to a customer’s meter, as the outstanding balance is now over $3,000.

Adamson said, “I’m getting tired of this.” Schuldt said he gave the resident a form to fill out for assistance, but he has not heard anything back.

Action regarding electric rates was put on hold because the city has not heard back from MiEnergy. The city expects to hear from MiEnergy in May.

The council approved Erica Knutson and Kasey Meiners’ request to use the community center for wrestling practice. Knutson and Meiners will provide the wrestling mat. After practice, the mat will be rolled up and stored there. Mayor Adamson said that the center is increasingly in use, which is a good thing. He added, “There’s dancing up there and basketball going on and kids running around.” He also noted that he is getting calls all the time asking to use it.

The council approved the renewal of Gator’s liquor license.

The council did not take action on the request to pass a resolution opposing the MariBell powerline project. The powerline is approximately three miles from Eitzen.

The Eitzen Lions Club Spring Appreciation Picnic is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., when lunch will be served. The mayor announced, “Come one, come all.”

Lesa and Todd Johnson requested a building permit to add a 14’ by 26’ addition to their house. The mayor told them to pay the man $100 and get the permit.

The mayor asked permission to buy a nice stainless steel water fountain for the ballpark at a cost of between $1,500 and $2,000. The council agreed it was long overdue, with members laughing as they shared stories of using the current fountain when they were kids.

The mayor would also like to put a small 2-3 person padded bench and an end table, maybe a nice, covered milk can, for collateral material, creating a comfortable space for people to sit and look at brochures and flyers in the community center. He expects to spend approximately $200. He also has some historic pictures to put on the walls in the center.

Supervisor Meyer was asked whether he had the mower tuned up and ready to go, and whether the snowplow and sander were put away. He immediately replied “after Saturday.”

The council unanimously approved paying the bills before adjourning the meeting at 6:33 p.m.
