Tom Duane Klomps, of Preston, Minn., passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at age 70.

Tom was born May 4, 1954, to Francis and Lorraine Klomps. He grew up on a dairy farm in rural Fountain, Minn., and graduated from Chatfield Chosen Valley High School, Class of 1972.  Making his home in Preston, Tom married Roxie Bremseth in July 1977; they later divorced.

Remaining in Preston, Tom worked numerous jobs in his lifetime; at Drury’s Furniture, as a carpenter with H & J Construction, at B&B Bowling and Restaurant, and at Preston Dairy and Farm. Tom also filled in when needed hauling milk, driving the garbage truck route, and helping many local farmers.

Tom always enjoyed working with his second family at B&B Bowl as a cook, bartender, and waiter.  He cooked early morning breakfasts and meals for the Fillmore County Jail and will be missed by the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department.

Tom liked to hunt and golf, and was an avid bowler, enjoying traveling to many bowling tournaments with his teammates.  Tom was proud of his Perfect 300 bowling game achievement and enjoyed winning many tournaments. Tom also served many years volunteering on the Preston Park board and volunteered at numerous community events.

Tom is survived by his mother Lorraine, sister Gloria (Ken) Hollermann, nieces and nephews Lori (Jonathon) Winkels, Jolene Greenwaldt, Jason (Kimberly) Hollermann, Matthew Hollermann, and eight great– nieces and nephews: Jackson Greenwaldt, Owen and Grayson Winkels, Ethan, Bennett, and Mckenzie Hollermann, and Ava and Aaron Hollermann.

Tom is preceded in death by his father Francis and brother Daniel John Klomps.

Tom will be missed by all his friends and family in the Preston area.

A Celebration of life will be held at B & B Bowl in Preston on Thursday, August 8 from 4-8 p.m., with a time of prayer and remembrance with Pastor Mark Woodward at 5 p.m.

Tom will be inurned in the Cherry Grove Cemetery at a later date.
