“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, “all people are like grass, and all their glory (like the K. C. Chiefs) is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached to you.” 1 Peter 1:23-25.
This year in our church we’re challenging everyone to read through the Bible. It’s really quite easy to do if you want to. It only takes a little over 70 hours to read. We’ve made available The One Year Bible, in which there is a reading for each day from the Old and New Testaments, Psalms and Proverbs. Most days it takes you about 12 minutes, and in a year, you’ve read through the whole Bible!
Statistics say the average person spends four hours and 37 minutes on their cell phone every day. That’s the equivalent of one day a week, six days a month, 70 days a year. Isn’t it just too bad we don’t have time to read the book that holds the key to eternal life? Peter wrote, “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” Another statistic says only 8-9% of “Born Again Christians,” as Peter calls us, have read through this living and enduring word of God.
Want to see your life changed? Want to see spiritual growth take place in your life? Get into God’s word and let God’s word get into you. “The word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached to you.”
