Sue Hagedorn obituary, Fillmore county Journal

Sue Ann (Rendigs) Hagedorn, 84, passed away on December 27, 2024 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, after short battle with cancer.  Sue was born on October 4, 1940, to Albert and Hildah Rendigs, in Black River Falls, Wis. On November 17, 1940, she was baptized at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls, and was confirmed on March 29, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford, Ill. Sue graduated from West High School in Rockford in 1958. Sue met the love of her life, Richard Hagedorn, at the Moonlight Pavilion in Cataract, Wis., when he was performing with Emil Guenther and the Blue Denim Boys. The two were united in marriage on May 16, 1959 at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls, Wis. Four children came from this union.

Over the years Sue and Richard lived in Stockton, Winona and farmed on Garvin Heights. They also built and ran Apple Rollerway roller rink in Apple Valley, Minn., and in 1976 moved back to Hart, Minn., to farm. Later in life, Sue would book music jobs for Richard and travel with him while out on the road performing.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she had served as Sunday school superintendent and also church secretary.  She loved listening to music and enjoyed watching the birds outside her big picture window.  Sue also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Sue is survived by her daughter Debra, sons David, Scott “Moose” and Shawn (Linda); five grandchildren: Kimberly Duffy, Jessica (Dan) Hovat, Jennifer (Jason) Clemens, Erik and Emma Pallaske; seven great-grandchildren: Jordan, Paige, Brett, Emma, Stella, Tucker and Scotlyn; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard.

There will be a celebration of life for Sue at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2024, at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, visitation starting at 2-4 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to St. John’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aid Quilting Group in Hart, Minn., or a charity of your choice in her name.

Sue’s family would like to extend their appreciation to St. Croix Hospice and Good Shepherd Nursing Home for the care they provided.

Hoff Funeral Home of Rushford is assisting the Hagedorn family. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.hofffuneral.com.
